Default Dead Rising...Wii version? (gameplay vid inside)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t9giQvD1KxI

Ok I never played the 360 version but wasn't a selling point LOTS AND LOTS OF ZOMBIES?

I mean compare it to here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qyfc7f0Z3wU @ 50 seconds

I just don't see the point of putting this on the Wii besides milking it.

Damn!

I wasn't a fan of Dead Rising on the 360 but the sense of "OMG THERE'S TOO MANY OF THEM" must be absent on the Wii version if this is as intense as it gets.....

Wow, that's really sad.

It's interesting, because the quality of what *is* there isn't too bad... probably even a bit better than I expected... but the fact that there are just so few zombies at any given time does pretty much destroy the most exciting part of that game (IMHO).

Very sad...

NOTE: Watching the 360 video does make me kinda want to pick this game up. When it came out, a buddy of mine brought it over and we played it for several hours, but I just didn't think it was worth the full retail price... I'll bet I could pick up a copy pretty cheap now... huh.

Isn't it a Platinum Hits title now? 30 bucks is worth it for a Keiji Inafune game

Dead Rising wasn't a bad game, but it definitely benefited from releasing earlier in the 360's life when choice titles were fewer. I think I went into the game with some incorrect perceptions. I thought I was getting into a sandbox style game with a lot of freedom to do what you want, and to an extent, that's true. But the fact that clock was always ticking meant you pretty much had to ignore a lot of the secondary stuff and plan out how you wanted to meet your objectives in order to finish them on time. I would have liked it a lot more if the game had given you more breathing space like GTA where there's only a "meter running" so to speak whenever you actually activate a mission, rather than always ticking away somewhere in the background leading you to an inescapable conclusion dependent on what you do or don't do during that time.

Looks a lot like the resident evil franchise getting recycled.

I agree Shoeless.
If it was a more sandbox experience it would have been superb. I really enjoyed the demo but couldn't get on with the full game.

The fun in Dead Rising was the hordes and hordes of zombies, and the many ways to kill them. That offset the stupid save funtion, and the timer.

At first I felt the same way about Dead Rising as Shoeless did. But what made Dead Rising great was that you kept your acquired skills through each time you played. I think the 72 hours of story only takes about 10 hours to play, they game was designed to be played through several times. The first time I played through, I had no clue what I was doing or where I was supposed to go. I failed the actual story but kept playing to learn and fool around with different weapons. The second time I played, I followed the story and finished. I played a third time through to get a bunch more acheivements.

That video showing Dead Rising on the Wii looks pretty pathetic as far as the number of zombies. There are times in the 360 version where you can literally run across the heads of them, I think there is an acheivement for that.

There have been rumors that they are making a sequal, I'm hoping they bring that to the PS3 because I sold my 360 a while back.

I still think Dead Rising was one of the hardest games to get 1000/1000 achievements in.

This Wii version will just be shovelwear.

I completely agree, there are some achievements you have to spend an entire play-through just to get, and all of them are worth 20 points. You definitely don't work for those achievements to increase your gamer score.

Agreed, the game was meant to be replayed. It definitely gives you more if you come back to it again and again, I just wished that they hadn't designed it that way. It's just my own tendencies as a gamer, but I prefer to play the hell out of a game once, and then put it back on the shelf and only come back for periodic revisits here and there. My taste doesn't really run towards games that need to be replayed repeatedly. I don't mind a second run through to pick up on stuff I may have missed the first time, but I generally don't play a game a 3rd and 4th time, barring a couple of rare exceptions here and there such as MGS 4, or, of course, music games.

Wow, seriously.... I cannot look at Dead Rising in 480i with low-res... everything.

Capcom is so not pulling off 100 zombies on-screen on this, it's chugging with 10... come on.

I see the benefit in aiming, but everything else... jesus, take it back please.
