Xbox 360 price drop info, with pics

I scanned the 60 gig and the Elite today with my RMU (retail management unit) to see what events are coming up and it show the 60 gig is dropping to $299.99 and the Elite is dropping to $399.99

It didn't give a date for the Elite and that means it could happen tomorrow but im not sure about that yet.

Now the 60 gig said it will be $299.99 in the Sep. 7/08 weekly ad.
I dont have the ad yet but Ill try to get one we get them next week.

I'm sure it is 199.99, but it's possible they may have slashed the price by 30 bucks or whatever. See, this price drop will definitely do well, but a 199 Arcade would do gangbusters. It would ensure MS > Sony for the holiday.

wow! I'd definately get one then (Elite). I'm just waiting for more of a price drop and while i'm waiting i'm getting my $ together so hopefully it will be a price drop within a matter of weeks. anyone happen to know if any other stores have any information right now as well? I suppose it'll be a price drop all around at every retail location..hope so.

Hard to say. Sony says they have their profitability plan set up, and the PS3 would be profitable by March 09. It would be hard to imagine that they did not set up a contingency plan for a price drop...but it's possible they're not looking for sales so much as they are looking for profit. They could try and ride the wave as long as possible.

Sure they can. Remember, ultimately, it's the software that rakes in the money, not the hardware. Sony could concievably drop the price $50 and still post a profit at the end of the quarter through software sales. Though to be honest, they should just bite the bullet and drop it $75 to $100. That'd be pretty awesome, actually.

As 2008 has proven, nothing is impossible. Afterall, the PS3 has a system seller, AAA exclusive, it's outsold the 360 in it's strongest market thus far this year, and the 360 has beaten the PS3 in Japan at least one week of sales this year.

If Sony wishes to remain competitive for the holiday season (and I have no doubt that they do), they'll try to counter the price drop. I'd almost bet money on it.
