As 2008 has proven, nothing is impossible. Afterall, the PS3 has a system seller, AAA exclusive, it's outsold the 360 in it's strongest market thus far this year, and the 360 has beaten the PS3 in Japan at least one week of sales this year.

I'm skeptical on that. You see the problem is PS3 sales are up 100% from last year... aka they don't need to drop. People are buying PS3's at a VERY steady rate at 399, it's hard to imagine them biting a bullet when they don't have to.

Any price drop by microsoft will definitely be matched by Sony tit for tat probably.

Still getting to the sweet point of $199 sooner will help Microsoft out a lot. That being said, I'm not sure if we're not near saturation of the 360 market. All the exclusive titles have dried up and they seem to only have sequels in the works.

Pricecuts is Microsoft's best bet but a tit-for-tat lowering of price for Sony should do well enough to keep Sony in the lead given Blu-Ray is also taking off now too.

HiDef gaming? 360? 360 had it's HiDef tacked on, and doesn't even have a HD drive...

I suppose if you are looking for cheapskate semi-HD, then a 360 is more HD than a Wii, but for anyone that cares abou HD, the PS3 is the only way to go.

Sequels like KZ2, RFoM2, Rachet, MGS4, Disegeia 3, and God Of War 3??

Or are you talking about the sales monsters that are Lair, Heavinly Sword, and Uncharted. Please.

PS3 is built on sequels more so than the 360.

360 has had Viva Pinata, Kameo, Naruto RoTN, Mass Effect, Bioshock, Lost Odyssey, Blue Dragon, Too Human among other new IPs coming.

Clearly you're not much of a gamer since there is also nothing wrong with Sequels.

The writing on the wall to me is they upgraded the 40 to 80 as compensation and having the 80 at 400 now looks much better to the general public than 500. I don't see them cutting this year, and if they do 50 bucks tops.

Also the wii is still selling 500K plus a month. They aren't cutting anything, it'd be moronic to do so.
