No way dude, they have been hyping Too Human for years, before Fable 2 was even announced. Fable 2 will be the better game, I'm undecided on wether or not I will play it though, after the disappointment I had with the first one (extremely short, I thought I was 25% of the way through the game when it ended).

I agree. Too Human wasn't even part of Microsoft’s E3 presser this year, Fable 2 was.

Talking about past hype, Too Human has been EXTREMELY hyped for years, ever since the 360 was released, and before that I believe, for other systems.

Lair wasn't at Sony's presser either last year.

    Doesn't mean it wasn't hyped.

I'm talking hype from the last year or so. I don't recall MS ever saying "Our big two exclusives this year are Too Human and Gears 2."

I honestly doubt many people even knew of Too Human until last year.

Most of the recent hype's been from Dennis Dyack.

GamePro (4/5) “Here’s an Xbox 360 exclusive that proudly wears its lofty ambitions on its sleeves, and yet sometimes seems bent on self-sabotage. That it’s so relentlessly addictive despite its aggravations is something of a minor miracle.”

IGN (78/100) “What’s been delivered in the end is a good game that ultimately falls just short of its promise due to a few questionable design decisions. One thing is for sure, though. If you love collecting random loot drops, you’ll find a lot to like here.”

Giant Bomb (3/5) “If you have an insatiable lust for items with higher stats than the ones you’re currently using, or if you get giddy at the mere thought of Diablo-style rare item naming conventions, you’ll probably be able to look past the game’s issues and have a good time. But even at its best, it’s hard to ignore Too Human’s monotonous combat and dated approach to cooperative play.”

GameSpot (55/100): “Too Human is a game of false starts and unrealized potential that infiltrate almost every aspect of the game, from story, to combat, to balance. Its elements feel stitched together, making for a patchwork quilt of a game that’s fraying at the seams.”

1UP (C-) “At the very least, the cyber-Norse concept of Too Human is a good one that’s worth exploring further, just not in this context. The game is simply schizophrenic; it attempts to be all things to all people and never succeeds in executing any of them well. The end result is in dire need of polish and focus, and that doesn’t solely apply to gameplay mechanics. There’s absolutely no reason why a game released in 2008 should have a bug where characters can fall through solid ground and into some pseudoabyss.”

It's easy to say 10 years. The reality is 10 years of scratching and going back to the beginning.

As I said, this game won't be for everyone.

    Gameplayer 7.0 - "This isn't the PS3's Haze" - according to them.
    Giantbomb - 3/5

That has everything to do with the quality of the game itself though. MS would've gladly shown it if it was turning out well.

The hype for this game went abit like this:

    late-2005 announced; Tons o' hype
    pre-e3 2006; Fever-pitch hype.
e3 2006; Major letdown, way less hype
pre-e3 2007; DD moaned to the media about prematurely judging TH on pre-alpha demos, promised great things, Tons o' hype back
e3 2007*; Major letdown, little hype
    pre-demo; a bit of hype
post-demo; no hype, just a little bit of people still declaring 'its average enough to be worth picking up' (tm)

This started life as the hugely expensive system seller heavily hyped heavy hitter nearly every first-party exclusive is treated as (barring stuff like Viva Pinata, Folklore).

True, and they wouldn't have been working on it during Eternal Darkness, but the attachment to the concept must be even stronger going through three iterations (PSX/GC/X360).

Or maybe he'll just be grateful that a weight is off his mind and move onto that Sega project that was announced waaaaaaaaaay long ago.

Dyack is now saying Too Human 2 won't take anywhere near as long now that they don't have to mess with an engine and that 4 player co-op is a big possibility.
