Thread: How long will a free PSN last?

I think the author was correct in that there will be a ton of microtransactions.
In the virtual world of home, they'll likely have billboards and virtual stores all over where avid gamers will go to watch demos and be saturated with ad's.
Wouldn't doubt that the media service will be integrated with home simply by them adding a Blockbuster^(tm) and an Apple Store^(tm) for all your movie and music needs. -

That's my biggest irritation. It's kept me from enjoying warhawk. I'm the type that doesn't like to waste 10 minutes just trying to find friends.
They need some unified standards. In game xmb needs to come with universal invites as well or it will still be a bit of a pain.XBL: Phil Collins117

All online games should use the CoD4 system. It's really awesome for online gaming. As it is, it seems every game has different standards of online communication support in game, some have almost none (like Untold Legends). I'd be happy with being able to join in the lobby without it disbanding whenever I join a game. Let alone the other XMB issues.

I have no problem with paying, but suspect like XBL there would be a free level too. However it would have to be worth the money.

I'm pretty sure that playstation will remain free because they use the store and add ons to games plus the extra services like Qore to get some revenue.
However, some additional fees for online games would allow for much more dedicated servers which is what I would really like. -

I've never seen any 'advertising' in PSN, much less a substantial oneBoth PSN and Xbox Live already have a substantial amount of advertising,
can anybody give me an example ?
or are the article talking about billboards in sports game ? (which was already there since the SNES era)LG 47LB7RF - 1080p

I guess the question should be "how long can MS keep charging for online p2p multiplayer services?"

If it remains free it'll probably be in part to the suckers who subscribe to Qore and sponsors in Home.

Sadly, that's the best question. It is true that even though Xbox Live is superior to PSN, for $50 a year we should get some dedicated servers along with p2p. Though I can't complain about the exclusive gaming event weekends and exclusive or "first to receive" DLC all the time.

Here are the top ones I can think of:
- Every game has voicechat.
- Voice chat isn't restricted to the same game.
- Every game allows for your friends list to be viewed, and friends to be messaged.
- Each game allows you to play your own music while playing the game.
Update 2.4 fixes the 3rd issue, but the other issues may or may not be fixed. The nerd is a tirelessly predictable creature whom the promise of boobies is like a bacon sandwich to a starving wolf. - Yahtzee

Can you on PSN(some of this stuff might have updated its been a few months since ive been on PSN)
Pull up a chat with a friend in a different game then you and talk to them?
Can you invite a friend from within that game and can he accept the invite while in the same game? Last time i checked this didint work for Eye of Judgement.
Can you send text messages to a friend while in game, and recieve them?
Can you Have voice chat for every game online?
Can you mute people in game on PSN?
Can you Avoid People on PSN?
Can you check your previously played player list on PSN?
Can you rent movies or tv episodes?
And im sure theres probally a few other things i cant think of just sitting here.
