New xbox scheduled for christmas 2010

I recently read in game informer that microsofts next gaming system is scheduled for 2010 and playstation 4 some short while after that. I for one think that this is rediculos and refuse to upgrade and support microsoft or playstion when Both systems (mostly the 360 have just started to now put out games that are still just pressing the envelope of there capibilities) for crying out loud Grand Turismo Prologue is the first PS3 game to even run at 60fps at 1080p.

I got that issue, too, and I think you misread it a bit. If I remember correctly, that was an educated guess on someone's part or maybe a bit from the rumor mole, but Sony has been promising a 10 year life span for the PS3 (whether that means in the same sense as the PS1's 10-year span or as the primary console is yet to be seen) and Shane Kim of Microsoft recently mentioned a 7 year life span for the 360. Personally I'd be surprised if we got any new systems (other than maybe a better Wii) before winter 2011, but if I had my wish, we wouldn't get them before 2012. Who knows?

This is possible, but with nintendo and MS makign money in this generation they will be less likly to abandon it. I think 2011 will be more realistic for a new 360 and 2012 for PS4.

MS will release one sooner than most of you think. 2012 is too long when they have millions of machines RRODing. Build another and move on to the next. Promise backwards compatibilty. And the cycle begins all over again.

I doubt you will see a PS4 before 2012/2013. Why would you, it's only just starting to utilise the power of the the cell.

Microsft and Nintendo are the ones likely tojump first, 360 because of RROD and limitations of DVD and lack of standard HDD, Nintendo because of Gamecube era tech all round.

I remember reading PS3 was designed to have a 10 year lifespan. I can't see a PS4 until 12 at the earliest.

The 10 year lifespan doesn't have to affect the launch of the next console. They can be independent of each other.

Example: PS3 launched in 2006. The PS4 could launch 2010 or 2011. The PS3 can still be supported 'til 2016 and the PS4 could be supported until 2020 or 2021. Assuming the Mayans are wrong about the 2012 thing.

2010? Sign me up. Technology always moves on and the current gen consoles are already several years old and showing their age.

The new Xbox will be out around 2011 and to justify it will have full backwards compatiablity with current 360 games.

Wouldn't suprise me if Alan Wake was pushed back as a launch title for it neither.

The something for Sony(ken i think) said "were in it for the long run,, in the next 10 years the PS3 will out sell allother consoles"! They are not about to make a new console. BD just hit it big and they are in it for the long haul. In 10' the 720 will come out, be better than the PS3 and an HD Wii will come out. The PS4 will come out in 13'

The truth is you're all talking from your asses...Nobody, not even MS knows when the next xbox will be released. They might have a target date that's secret, but that would be a closely guarded trade secret. I also would like to mention that because of blu-ray, Sony has an advantage for the next-gen console. Come 2010, they can tell developers that they can include higher resolution textures and different rendering resolutions on the disc, and a hypothetical PS4 would play all the PS3 games at native 1080p with higher resolution textures since blu-ray has the space to store them. They can even include 2 versions of the same game on the disc, one for the PS3 and the other for the PS4 which contains better graphics and renders at 1080p.
