Not totally unexpected. Microsoft has repeatedly said to the gaming press that if there was a sufficient demand for it, or if it was clear that it would benefit the gamer, then a Blu-Ray add-on was not an impossibility on the Xbox 360. I've personally had Microsoft marketing reps tell me that as far back as two years ago.

I dont' see the point in a BD addon - just get a PS3. Or get it for your PC and stream it to the 360, even better.

A Blu-ray drive in a 360 would make Microsoft more competitive with the PS3, but it would also mean extra revenues for Sony’s electronics division.
Sony's pickle.

I doubt this goes less than $200. If you do buy it money for Sony but just expensive enough you just go buy a PS3.

I think it would mainly be for people who already have a 360, and want in on high def. Either way if they Buy a PS3 or the add on, Sony gets a chunk.

CC is annoucing a trade in for HD DVD players if purchased in the last 3 months if you buy a BD player. Pretty cool I guess.

Bought an add on from BBY with a replacement plan. Discontinued already. What happens when they can't replace my "defective" unit in June? $200 store credit towards my MGS PS3. LOL. Then turn around and get a used one somewhere for $30 bucks.

If Sony won't give them a good price, what's stopping MS from buying a LG PC drive and putting it into a custom usb enclosure matching the 360? This talk is only to get the best price possible and Sony will sell them, they are an electronics company.

This will not happen. Microsoft has invested too much development into getting the 360 to work with HDi and HD-DVD.

Wait, what? How does that matter in the slightest? HD DVD is done. This is a new ballgame, now. What would Microsoft possibly lose by making profits off yet another accessory, and possibly even selling a few more 360s as part Blu-Ray players?

MS completely discontinued the HD DVD add on a couple weeks ago.
