    Hype train? An ad for a PS3 version of God of War on the back of the manual for the PSP version of God of War? I think that's just called advertising. When it starts showing up on Mountain Dew cans and Discovery Channel programs called "Weapons of God of War", then we can call it the hype train. Right now, it's just generating awareness.

    Frankly, I don't think Sony has ever been anywhere near as good with advertising as Microsoft has. They're in completely different leagues which I think really hurts Sony's games. Sony's advertising always seems so matter-of-fact. Like, "here is a new game we're offering." I really liked the Halo mock-documentary ads and would love to see that kind of creativity by Sony.

    But yeah, God of War 3 will be kick ass.

    I think you are missing the point. Remember when GOW2 was about to release? They had a whole internet clock counting down. It's marketing and marketing's job is to hype stuff, whether it be gaming or a can of soda.

    GOW3 will be great, I just don't want to think about it nor hear about it if it's not on the radar for release.

    No, I know what you're saying and agree about the whole timing thing. I'm just saying that this manual and a countdown clock seem almost timid and insufficient for a game this big after what Microsoft did with Halo 3. It's certainly unobtrusive at this point. But I'm sure Sony has more planned.

    Agreed.

    I actually was a little appalled at the Halo3 marketing that went on but hey, it worked and the game was pretty decent... not as well as the hype made it seem to be but fun single player with coop option and really fun MP. BTW, I'm not into Halo and I liked it.

    Subconsciously, my PS3 was bought with the promise of Twisted Metal and God of War.

    Gonna go snag GoW2 tomorrow, funds permitting.
