What makes Killzone great?

There was a thread on what makes Halo great, so on the flipside, I wanna know what makes KZ great. I won't veil my fanboism like the last guy. I think it's the updated graphics that has drawn fanboys out of the woodwork. The first game sucked and what is the other game that Guerilla put out? Shellshock Nam '67. That's right. So if a CGI trailer comes out for Nam '68 will Sony fanboys be chomping at the bit? I'm not saying Killzone 2 will suck. I just wanna know what the draw is. Be truthful.

Honestly I see this game screwing themselves with the 'cover' feature. They're trying to be like gears with the cover and gun gameplay.... but why not pan out in cover mode? who the hell wants to stare at a wall for 5 seconds then pop up and shoot.

Sure its somewhat immersive, but that doesn't make it fun. When I read they were touting this it could be a lack luster feature, but not a deal breaker like siaxis controls. What makes killzone great? Nothing its not. We'll see if KZ2 can help their tarnished rep.

I think what will make it great, even if it sucks, is that Sony fanboyz will hype it up no matter how good or bad it is.

Look at Warhawk. I'm sure it's a fun game and all, but all the Sony fans are shitting their pants over a game that is getting 8's and all the way up to 8.8!!!!!!!

I guess above average = AAA for PS3

i would call 8.8 for an online only title pretty close to AAA.
especially if the only major gripe with the game (aside from lack of a single player campaign) was no tutorial system.

Warhawk actually got a 9.0 from Gamespy, a 9.0 from Gametap, and a 9.6 from Next Gen Ireland. You must have missed those scores:

Further, the only knock on this game that has brought down scores is the fact that its multi-player only, which in my opinion is weak. As a multi-player only game its as close to a 10 as I've ever played, and every review save for PSM basically says that.

Lastly, I love how the Xbots keep harping on the PS3's thin lineup, as if the 360 had ANYTHING to brag about prior to Gears which was what about a year into its life span? Ps3 hasn't even been out a friggin year yet!

Killzone 1 was pretty bad, looked ok but the gameplay was weak. KZ2 looks fantastic but I hope they beefed up the gameplay and the fun factor.
