Sony's Interface
So I'm now a "proud"
err "disapointed"
hmm... "undiceded"
owner of the PS3. I hooked it up and was amazed how poorly the user interface is. Seriously... and whats the deal with the playstation network? Its basically impossible to comunicate with fellow gamers....well unless your in the same game or back at the main menu.
Oh, Jonny Q just sent me a message...well lets quit the game and see what he said
....tell me there is light at the end of this tunnel.
Anyway....im a few hours into resistance and im diggin it.. The Heavenly Sword demo is unbelievable and despite the rumors im playing Lair b/c pretty graphics & dragons are all i need.
The bottom line....i had the PS3 for less then 3 hours before i turned my 360 on to pnw noobs in GOW.
So now i say this to sony....i showed you the money now give me some games! -

I think the XMB is rather good. It's very very simple and it's easier to find stuff than in Dashboard.
You also need to give PSN some credit. Xbox Live is 6 years old or something. PSN is less than 10 months old. Xbox Live DID NOT come out ANYWHERE CLOSE to what it is now. It needed time. Besides, it's free online play.+32in Sanyo Vizon

Why give them credit?? They downplayed online gaming the moment Microsoft launched Live, then turned right around and offered some half-baked version of their own. PSN has been in the pipeline as a concept for FOUR YEARS, heck the PSP has been toying with this for 2 years, yet you now want to cut Sony some slack??!! Look at their online music store that shut down this week, this from the inventor of the Walkman!!You also need to give PSN some credit. Xbox Live is 6 years old or something. Because I can turn on a PSP with official firmware from 2005 and have access to PSN content, right?
PSN has only been in service since late 2006. It's not gonna overtake Live in services or features right off the bat. It's going to need TIME to get the content created. It's not like Xbox Live launched in 2002 with the content it has today. It didn't. It was bare-bones in the beginning. It gained content as it matured.
I don't care what Sony said five years ago. Times have changed. They now support an online service which is growing. Thats all that really matters. They are behind Xbox Live but a 4 year or so difference doesn't really help. You may not agree, but that is A LOT of time to make up for.+32in Sanyo Vizon

Their online is a fucking joke, a placeholder for a $600 system that might as well say "Under Construction". Make up your mind, first you say that Live launched in '02 and was barebones, but say that they had 4 years on Sony?? Sony SAW Live in '02 and discredited it, only to offer PSN FOUR YEARS LATER and it interacts worse that a 4 year-old model!! What is with Sony/Blu-ray fanboys? Why is everything "just wait, eventually it will get better"??!! Yet other companies launch out of the box with well-thought out product and you disparage it?PSN has only been in service since late 2006. I agree, the XMB is a great GUI, but the PSN is still a shadow of what XBL is currently. Things can change though and the PSN has gotten better, thankfully. But, free online play is not enough, in my opinion, to compensate for PSN's lack of functionality and mediocre user-friendliness.

Yeah.... Xbox Live launched out of the box the way it is right now.... didn't it?
The world isn't just black or white. There ARE shades of grey and things need to be taken on a case by case basis. So the hell what if they didn't think much of Live back then? I'm satisfied with PSN because I'm not being forced to pay for online multiplayer. If PSN turned into a pay-to-play service like Xbox Live, I'd be very very disappointed (going on record with this).+32in Sanyo Vizon
