    Default Bioshock on the PS3

I know an actual Ps3 version is kind of out of the question, but entertain this possibility. Kind of came to me from the Linux on your ps3 thread.

    What if...

    1) You first install Linux on your PS3.

    2) You then purchase yourself a PC version from (insert overly priced retail store or bargain priced online site).

    3) Obtain yourself a copy of Cedega for Linux, which, for those who may not know, is a very nice emulator/virtual OS for running Windows applications, perhaps just games.

And, voila!!! Bioshock on the Ps3. This would also work for...dum dum dum...Mass Effect on the Ps3. Whenever they get around to releasing it for Windows.

Let me know what you think.

The Linux version for the PS3 does not support graphics acceleration. Therefore, your carefully laid out plan is pointless. Sorry.

Are the PS3's specs up to par with a PC that can handle those 2 games?

If so, good news for the 1% of PS3 owners out there that have linux installed.

Linux on ps3 is so pointless as it doesnt have access to the ps3 graphics card at all making it very underpowered. Also it doesnt have acess to all 8 cell cores meaning the cpu is no where near fast enough to do all the calculations without a video card.

Even if you could use 3D hardware acceleration, you'd have to first emulate a x86 processor on the PowerPC core, then emulate Windows on that x86 emulated processor. Welcome to the slideshow.

Welcome to the world of virtual memory. No machine with a harddrive is limited to 512MB of memory, I don't know why you'd think that was the case.

Virtual memory is still not (and may never be) as advantageous as real memory.

I never said it was advantageous, just that system memory isn't a limiting factor. However, that's where smart caching and programming comes in to optimize performance.

I'm sure Cedega doesn't support Bioshock yet, but assuming enough people subscribing vote for it, which is definitely going to happen, it will be supported in the near future. However, all of the other replies are duly noted. It seems that until the Ps3 version of Linux could tap into all of the necessary resources to run such advanced processes, my grand master plan to supplant all Microsoft exclusives has gone awry. I haven't given up yet!!

Just buy a damn pc or a 360 already. Its more worthwhile to own a 360 than a ps3. I mean dont you wanna actually play games?

I'd love to play games on the 360, but due to it's quality issues, I won't be playing games on it. How can you play games on a system that's broken and in repair for 2-3 months. So yes, I actually do want to play games...and do on my PS3.
