Blue dragon isn't bad per say. It should earn at least a fair and possibly a good. Eternal Sonata will likely be good. The more I read about it, the more I'm expecting great things from Lost Odyssey though. That game looks to put its predecessors on the 360 to shame and make a lot of RPG fans who haven't bitten with the 360 more likely to do so.

Excellent, I will keep my eye out for these. I have always been a RPG fan but recently have found squat to play that is amusing to me

Blue Dragon to kiddy?? Yea ok the animation screams Dragon Ball Z, or some other animated toon. The same thing was said about wind waker and that was a good game. And a overall score of 80% is not bad, nor is it great. It's average. If all you want to play is games that get 9's or higher how small is your library of games??

What kind of absurd scale are you guys using that 80/100, 8/10, 4/5, or the like are an "average" game?

To me, that score suggests a pretty good game, that could've been better, but is still far above mediocre.

The kind where instead of looking at the numbers, I read the reviews and see what they have to say. I feel a lot of the high numbers are inflated above what they wrote about can justify.

To me a 9 is a great game. Any flaws are minor in nature to get a rating that high. And while I can grant that some people may actually enjoy RPGs that have uninteresting characters and a boring plot (man level grinding and endless random battles that mean nothing sure are fun!) the story is a huge issue to a large part of the RPG fanbase. For it to have admittedly major flaws in that area should bump it down to at least an 8. And yes an 8 still is very good. Just not great.

If I base my rating off of the general feel I get from the all the written reviews, it looks like a 7 in my book.

You must have hated FFVII's graphics Some are calling Blue Dragon FFVII with different characters and a different storyline. Not to sure exactly if that statement is a good or bad thing, but I will be picking up my copy tonight.

I just thought i'd mention the rating scale is so broken when where calling games getting an 80 out of 100 average. Average should be a 50 out of 100. Wtf is teh point of having a 10 star scale when no one rates anything under a 7 these days.

I agree, the text of a review is much more useful than the score...it just always strikes me as strange when someone says "8 out of 10? It must not be worth my time!"

As far as story and Blue Dragon go, several reviews I've read by people I tend to agree with have suggested that it's actually a fairly good story, just that it takes a while to get off the ground (and that's true of virtually every RPG), so I'll still be picking it up.

Who cares, if the game interests you and is the genre you like, then get it. I wish people would just get games they enjoy, and quit worrying about what everyone else thinks about the game, and harping on other consoles games like they are some authority.

I agree. But things like this happens when we see 15 threads on a game and its score lower than expected. Although not such a thing happened with blue dragon, it was touted as a AAA RPG. And really the anti blue dragon sentiment was started with indy's pointless thread.

But yes if you don't like traditional RPG's you probably won't like this game and shouldn't have probably played the demo and be mad about it. I still never play RPG demos since FF12 and Dragon Quest 8's gave me a bad taste.

And they didn't reflect the game overall.

It's not just this game. It's alot of games. Everyone's bashing each others games, and moreoever making fun of genre's like it's some statement of life. People need to get the fuck over themselves. If you like the game, fine get it, if you don't like it, then don't buy it. There's been like 10-20 threads in the last two weeks bashing every consoles game for some stupid reason or another, and it's really getting old - quickly.

I certainly don't fault anyone for buying this, and certainly there will be people who enjoy it. Come to think of it, if it was the first new RPG that came out since Enchanted Arms I could play, I'd pay full price for it too.

I've just been spoiled by having more RPGs come out than I have time to finish them all for so long that I've tended to get into the habit of only buying the best when they come out, and getting the rest at a discount later.

There's got 2 RPGs on the PS2 coming out next month I'm looking forward to much more than Blue Dragon and I've still got a bunch of bargain bin games left to try out though. So I wouldn't pay full price for it if I owned a 360 and I certainly won't buy one for it.

But I may end up buying one for Lost Odyssey, and if I can, at some point, grab Blue Dragon for $30 or less, I'll certainly give it a try.

Wild Arms 5 is going to be very good. Very. I've already seen a couple of reviewers that praised it as almost as good as 1 - which says alot. That's my next game after Persona 3.
