New PS3 Spotted in the wild!

There are more pics here.
If this is true, I think it will be the ugliest game system of all time.Waiting for the day when sales or graphics or reviews matter again. -

Looks pretty bad but then so did the 360 and original PS3 slim until officially revealed. I'm sure this sounds stupid but I can't even understand what must be a side shot. I can't see how that works with the other ones.

I'm convinced, as pointed out by other people around the internet, that the top is actually a slide mechanism to access the disk drive. You can see in the front and rear views how one side of the ridged area is recessed which would allow the other half of the ridged area to overlap it.

Even more interesting is they list a 16GB model. Is this Sony's answer to 360's core system? What about all of the mandatory installs for PS3 games?

I seriously doubt they would put out a 16GB machine, but if they did it would handle installs just fine. There are no PS3 games with install data approaching 16GB, even with all the DLC installed. Sure, you could only have a couple, maybe three games installed at any one time, but that's the trade off - convenience vs. price.
If they do put out a 16 GB machine, my question is, does it even have a STAT HDD bay? Obviously the 16GB would be on board flash, so would it haven an empty slot for an HDD bay, or would that be omitted to reduce cost? If it is omitted and you are locked down to 16GB for the life of the machine, does it retail for $99? Is this their endgame strategy for the PS3? I'll be interested to see how they position the PS3 as the Wii U launches and MS gears up for the new console launch. From all the rumors, it sounds like Sony is lagging behind with the Orbis... -

Or maybe just a typo of the usual 160Gig base model.

Depending on how much is left when formatted and reserved for system use, Battlefield 3 could pretty much take up the rest of the space. Maybe the model is designed for streaming, but I just assumed that was further down the road.
160GB to 250GB seems like a minor bump to add a 3nd SKU into the mix.DarkRedRain (XBL, PSN, WiiU)

No difference from the current setup though with the addition of a 500Gig model.
To me it would seem to make more sense to add a 500Gig SKU to the current lineup rather than release a model too small to hold some titles.
Hey guys please buy this 16Gig model that wont even hold the games we will give you free with a PSN+ subscription.
(Granted this is Sony we are talking about

One install at a time I guess? With the exception of GT5 and their ridiculous patches and DC Universe Online, I can't think of a game that has more than a 6 GB install. GT5's install is optional too. I haven't tried Battlefield in some time, but I don't think it had an install? Not sure. The DLC can't be 16 gigs big. PS3 also lets you redownload DLC as many times as you want should as long as it's the same system and account. I don't know. Didn't expect this move really so late into the game
The ridges look terrible, if not for that, I think it would look ok. I like the shape of it really. But damn those ridgesDon't Reach, Young Blood
