So with Sony selling less PS3s in fiscal 2011 than fiscal 2010, will we see a price cut at E3? Is price even the issue? I can't imagine $250 being considered a bad deal for the system at this point.

I think demand/saturation is a huge issue now. Price cuts always help, but how many people do you know that dont either own a wii, 360, or PS3 - but might be persuaded to get a PS3 if only it were $250 instead of $300?
Also, what would be the software to drive such a purchase? Everyone knows that COD comes out every year, like 6 times a year, so even the huge, gen-driving franchises have been established and around for a really long time at this point. No one is going to have an epiphany that "oh wow i really want to play cod, and now the PS3 is only $250!"Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

Agree, this is just the beginning of market saturation for these consoles. The 360 would be in a similar spot if it didn't have Kinect. Sales are only going to slump further if we have another 16-18 months before new Sony/MS hardware. Strap in and hang on.

I really don't see anything Sony can do for the PS3. Price Drop might happen, but it's not going to make much difference in the long run. New software would be nice, but they've yet to have some pivotal franchise that sold millions of machines or anything, so it's unlikely to happen this late in the generation. Seems like we're just on autopilot until next holiday. Even then I doubt we'll see a lot of heavy hitters at launch for the new machines. -

For mobile, yes. But Console & PC games are getting pushed further and further in the other direction. Just look at stuff like Dark Souls or Skyrim.
Really the issue is that the mobile device as a portable console is a bankrupt idea these days. I get there are still some people who enjoy that sort of thing, but it's a shrinking market, and one Sony never had dominance in to begin with... -
