Yeah.. below 100k NPD and similarly bad numbers in Japan.. maybe it’s doing better in Europe, but general sales charts show it underperforming.
1.8 worldwide (shipped number?) at this point, considering Japanese sales stretch back to last year, is not that impressive. Maybe not a disaster, but pretty close.DarkRedRain (XBL, PSN, WiiU) -

Sony has to knock it out of the park at E3 with Vita, perhaps Gamescom. Need to hit $200 in August, and they need a nice stream of titles.
The disconcerting part about titles is that they seem to have a bunch of commitments such as Assassin's Creed/COD but not actual games to show for them.Don't Reach, Young Blood

Yeah, it makes no sense really. Kinect Star Wars was universally panned as a shit storm, so why people would still buy it is beyond me, unless this is in large part to the custom console.
As far as Prototype 2, the first was a budget title IMO, and the 2nd, didn't look any more interesting than the first. The nerd is a tirelessly predictable creature whom the promise of boobies is like a bacon sandwich to a starving wolf. - Yahtzee

Apparently the 3DS sold 2.1 million from January to march. Not exactly an equal timespan, the Vita was only on sale outside Japan since Feb and your comparing launch numbers to a portable that's been out for a while so make of it what you will.

Well its target demographic probably doesn't even know games are reviewed.

So the PSV has been out in most places for around three months and in Japan for six. By the time 3DS had been out for about 3 months in most places and Japan for four, it had already sold 4.3 million worldwide.
Yeah, Vita's doing just fine.Last edited by Bane; 05-11-2012 at 11:38 AM.

At the beginning of March the Vita had 1.2m sold worldwide, which means it sold about 600k between March and April. If the DS sold 2.1m worldwide in 3 months, that breaks down to about 700k worldwide per-month. The Vita's done 300k per-month worldwide. Which isn't bad considering:
1. At its cheapest it's 250 dollars.
2. It doesn't have a major hit like Mario or Zelda, which the 3DS does.
It's doing a little better than the 3DS did in its first few months in the west but it's doing terribly in Japan (so far).
It's hardly a failure considering its price point, considering its software and considering its only current competition has tons more to offer, and is arguably a success for Nintendo post-price drop.
If the Vita were cheaper, it'd be doing way better, but as it stands it's not a failure. People keep blowing its sales completely out of proportion.
EDIT: http://www.insidegamingdaily.com/201...side-of-japan/
At launch the Vita did about 620k between the US and Europe, which means that another 600k have been sold worldwide between march and april. Excluding the 100k sold in Japan between those two months, 500k units were sold worldwide, split evenly that'd mean the PSV sold about 550k between the US and EU. The 3DS did 700k in the US between March and June.Last edited by Indy_aka_Rex; 05-11-2012 at 11:51 AM.
Great quotes on the internet:
I hear Galaxy is brilliant, and it probably is. Just can't picture myself sitting down and playing it. That would take time away from watching the Disney Channel and working on my coloring book.Ryan Payton (MGS4 Associate Producer) -
