    Default R.I.P. Qore

Sony's Qore interactive magazine began in June of 2008 and has been released monthly onto the PSN ever since. But today on the PlayStation Blog, it was revealed that April 2012's edition of Qore would be the last issue released.

"As the first interactive digital magazine on a game console, Qore provided an innovative mix of quality HD video and interactive content covering over 160 new games," PSN's Executive Producer Kevin Furuichi noted on the PS Blog.

"With this April episode, Qore concludes its run on the PlayStation Network. As a send off, the Qore team built one final DLC package: the Qore Ultimate Arcade features a compilation of 11 mini games offered through the series. Our thanks to all involved in the creation and production of Qore and to the many fans who regularly watched each month."

Word of Qore's cancellation comes on the heels of dire news set to strike Sony Corporation. The company is purportedly prepping to lay off a full 6% of its global workforce -- 10,000 people in all -- and has warned that its biggest yearly loss is on the horizon, purportedly reaching $6.4 billion in total.

the "many fans" lol. I think if it had many fans, it wouldn't be going away. I know that I never even knew it existed until now. Then again, I haven't booted up my ps3 in over a year, so that could have something to do with it.

Oh Qore we hardly knew ye!!

I never thought an online-only, interactive magazine, accessible (only?) through your PS3 was going to be a big hit. That's just too contrived. Then, qore became sort of a value-added thing (i think people who pay for PSN, whatever that tier of service is called, get qore for free??)

Qore didn't make that much sense given its eventual direction. Plus, PSN has a free (weekly/monthly) show put out with that Asian chick to talk about new games/movies etc on PSN, and they also showed previews there. I dont remember what the hell the name of that is either, but it seemed to make Qore seem even less valuable.

*Note to Sony: can we name everything something simple to remember that might actually sound good in marketing? How about: PlayStation Preview?? Jeez.

Ahh that's right. Yeah I'm not terribly in to "asian chicks" but I have seen the internetz drool over her. I thought the show was pretty well done and it sorta provided a major nelson's type coverage at the end of each episode, talking about the most played/bought/watched of the PSN store and in general

Edit: would be hilarious to see the headlines when/if Pulse gets cancelled. Playstation Network has no pulse. Pretty rich for smackdown

Qore was a nice alternative to a subscription-based service prior to PS+. It's nice to have in PS+, but it was what it was: a nice option that served its purpose.
    Great quotes on the internet:

I hear Galaxy is brilliant, and it probably is. Just can't picture myself sitting down and playing it. That would take time away from watching the Disney Channel and working on my coloring book.

I stopped checking out qore episodes after they folded it into PSN+ subscriptions and it became ad-riddled.

Wait, since this was part of PSN+, and they are removing it, does this mean they are dropping the price?

It's pretty decent, download one from the store whenever you want. A 3-5 minute preview of what's coming down the playstation pipeline, whats coming to the store (both games/video/dlc), and then what people have been playing on PSN.

I usually enjoy it, but admit "usually" translates to "I've probably watched it 5-10 times since getting a PS3 in 2008

Hard to see “Home” making it to PS4, especially if they remove backwards compatibility.
