No.
The 360 dashboard is a garbled mess of shit. It's a huge pain in the ass to navigate the new Metro interface and it's stuffed with ads, even if you pay for Gold. The interface on most new Smart TVs and streaming boxes like Roku, Boxee, etc. is directly inspired by the iOS - easy to navigate, easy to ignore the ads, and does not require overt hand gestures or obnoxious voice control. Also, you don't have to pay that extra fee to access the services you are already paying for.
The only advantage MS has right now as a media box is install base. That's it.
Certainly they will see continued success with the 360 as it lives on and gets another price drop or two, but that edge will be dulled when the game is reset 18 months from now with new consoles. Going forward, more devices will serve up these media services for free and less people will look at a $400+ game console as a convenient way to get at that content - especially with the extra fee on top for Live. -

nope. That is why I don't own a Kinect and never will. The Wii was the first console to launch in over 30 years that I did not purchase. Every other console I purchased either day 1 or close to it (except for when I was a kid in the 80s and had to wait for birthday/christmas to get consoles). The entire reason was motion controls.
My Samsung 3D LED has the smart apps built in and I use that a lot. HBO GO mainly. I don't even use my 360 for media (never really did, it just plays games! lol). I used to use my ps3 for Blu-ray and streaming but now that I own a better main BD player and can stream right to the TV using the built in apps, my ps3 has been sitting in a box since I bought the new house back in July of last year. -

Nope, the advantage is the games. Cant play skyrim or halo on a roku. People are buying 360's for games and then using all the extras, that correlates with people who would be interested in XBL gold. If they wanted a media box only, there are many cheaper options as you said.

There's no pride in that, it is and has always been a stupid arguing point on this board. It used to be a oft-cited mantra here, like one box was better than another because it did fewer things and people elected to perform even fewer functions on it.
That's like people with the old school nokia cell phones (the ones that made phone calls and played worm, and that's it) claiming that their phone is better than the iPhone because all it does is make calls and that's all they do on it.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

I hear Galaxy is brilliant, and it probably is. Just can't picture myself sitting down and playing it. That would take time away from watching the Disney Channel and working on my coloring book.Ryan Payton (MGS4 Associate Producer)
