I guess I'm confused as to why you think I'm saying Microsoft/Windows 8/Windows Phone 8 is a shoe in for Microsoft. I'm just saying I think they'll have a better chance of being in the game as a platform provider because of these. I think we're heading to a future of convergence ARM devices, and Nintendo and Sony are not platform providers outside of their consoles.

Because you've prognosticated the failure or two huge firms, and the survival of MS in the same scenario, and made the brunt of your reasoning out to be a condensing of platforms and ecosystems, then provided MS's foot in this door as being phones and windows 8.
It's all mostly nonsense. If sony fails, it wont be because of their gaming division, and certainly not because of bell and whistle type things. That's not at all why they're having financial woes.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

Your point seems to be a conglomerate of pretty radical opinions rather than one cohesive and well reasoned point. Given that, it's pretty hard to follow - but one need not work too hard at it, it boils down to this: You think Sony and Nintendo will fail, MS wont, and that is mostly because people are consolidating platforms and ecosystems into phones and tablets and somehow, (despite having an abysmal record in tablets and phones) Microsoft will be able to take advantage of these trends through successes beginning with windows 8 / windows phone 8.
On any given number of those bases, I can easily disagree with you. Drilling down and refining your point probably wont bring us closer to agreement.
To me, this sounds simply like another chapter in the 'Averry <3 MS' novel =PCurrently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

I think this is the future whether Microsoft is there or not. Obviously I hope they are, because I like their style and products. Am I making really really quite outlandish predictions? Of course...I realize that. But I believe that's our future, whether or not Microsoft shrivels up and dies or not.
You either don't believe this scenario will happen (which is fine), or you do but simply call me out as a Fanboy because I think in this scenario Microsoft would be fine?
If I said....all consoles will die including Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, but Apple will be standing alone dominating....does that make me an obvious Apple fanboy....or does it not because everything looks at the gobs of success Apple has and says...Okay..sure.
Because I sure as shit wouldn't be surprised at that scenario happening either. I was just narrowing the discussion down to what we always talk about here. Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony.
If Microsoft takes it in the chin from every direction they won't be there..and we'll have a plethora of Android and iOS products to choose from...and Nintendo and Sony and Microsoft may continue to exist within those platforms but they wont' hold a platform like they're used to.
I wasn't trying to make a cohesive point. I was trying to make a brash and crazy attempt at telling the future.PSN: AverryXC

Sony Having Difficult Time Getting Third Party Support For The PS Vita
“We’re having a more difficult time than we had anticipated in terms of getting support from third-party publishers, but that’s our job,” Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studio President Shuhei Yoshida told PlayStation: The Official Magazine in a recent interview.
“We will continue to talk to development communities and publishing partners and tell them why Vita can provide a great experience for the IPs they have and I hope the Assassin’s Creed game will prove that.DarkRedRain (XBL, PSN, WiiU)

A dumbed down Assassin's Creed clone made by a B-Team isn't going to get me interested in the Vita. We're already getting near overload of Assassin's Creed on the consoles. Making a bunch of awesome unique games that are tailored to the Vita hardware would do a lot more to get me interested. Sound Shapes looked like it might be a game that got me really close to buying a Vita. If they could have produced games like that on a regular basis, that would have been all the justification I needed - assuming the games were good of course. But for some inexplicable reason, Sound Shapes is now also coming out on PS3?!? If they've ditched or adapted all the Vita-specific controls to make it work on a DS3, I'll just buy it on PS3 and play it on my big ass TV with the good sound system.
I just don't understand how anyone at Sony "believes" that offering inferior clones of console games and asking almost the same price is going to be a winning strategy for this machine. It didn't work with the PSP and it hasn't worked with the Vita, so what is fueling the confidence in this strategy? -

They definitely have an uphill battle ahead of them. Hard to convince people to make games for a system with the sales Vita has. Sales coming from a lack of good games.
I agree with RM's thoughts, stuff like Sound Shapes and Snapshot are what would get me interested in a vita if they weren't also coming to PS3.
