Which game are you getting BF3 or MW3 ?
I spent a lot of time playing Black Ops and MW2 but i will not be buying MW3 because honestly it all looks the same. Also $15 per map pack is just too much. I bought all 7 map packs for MW2 and BO which is $105. This is a lot. I will be however getting BF3. The game looks really good. The most time ever i spent playing any game was probably BF1942. One of the best games ever.

BF3 for me, easily.
However, do not be surprised if Battlefield DLC releases are priced similar to the modern warfare map packs. So I wouldnt really be taking that into consideration as a positive. -

They can both suck it presently. I'm only interested in the campaign and expect nothing good from either.

For the most part, the ability to spawn on your team keeps this from happening. That is, if you end up joining a team when you join the game. Odds are, one or more members of the team are going to be close to the action and you can spawn on them. But it can be an issue, like you said. I usually don't mind it if it happens, as it gives me a chance to creep up and flank around enemies, but sometimes I feel like just rushing into the action and shooting shit and making that trip from the long end of the map can be a hassle.
Edit: I'm speaking purely from a Bad Company prospective, as I've never played a battlefield game other than 1943 or whatever it was that was downloadable. Those maps werent really big enough to have that problem to begin with, though. -

A real Battlefield Conquest map is quite large. Huge in fact. Being left behind can totally SUCK sometimes. But shit, there's vehicles EVERYWHERE. Hop in a dune buggy or a humvee and be on the frontline within 15 seconds. I never understood the arguement that BF maps are too large. Then again, when most servers dropped below 32-36 players total, I would exit and find a new server.
And TAK, if you liked creeping around people on the extremely LINEAR maps of BC, you'll LOVE the maps in Battlefield. Instead of 3 control points all in a row, picture 9 to 11 control points, all over the place. Its nearly impossible for one team to hold all the points. You wanna sneak behind enemy lines?? It gets epic, trust me. Watch some vids of the gameplay and you'll see the better players not going all rambo....instead they slip off and destroy enemy assets, then take them out from the blindside! Its awesome!Intel i5 2500k (@4.7Ghz) + XFX Radeon 7970 3GB RAM! + 16GB DDR3 RAM (STEAM/Origin: Nealon_Greene)

EA is notorious for nickle and diming with their DLC. BF2 was released in 2005. The world of video games has changed a lot since then. I just hope they don't pull the stuff they did with BF:BC2 where they simply unlock a game mode on an existing map and try to call it a "map pack".
