Seems to me that all the people who are sick of COD and think it's stale, is in the minority big time. Fans of the game say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Give us more of what we love!
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Sets New Five-Day Entertainment Record Grossing More Than $775 Million Worldwide
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Becomes Best-Selling Video Game Launch of All Time at Each of the Top-Five Retailers in North America
Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 Establishes New Xbox® LIVE™ Record with 3.3 Million Unique Online Players in One Day
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Nov. 17, 2011 /PRNewswire/ — Activision Publishing, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Activision Blizzard, Inc. (Nasdaq: ATVI), announced today that Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare® 3 has shattered theatrical box office, book and video game sales records for five-day worldwide sell-through in dollars. The game established an all-new five-day worldwide sell-through record of more than $775 million, exceeding the record of $650 million set a year ago by Activision’s Call of Duty: Black Ops and $550 million two years ago for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare® 2, according to Charttrack and retail customer sell-through information..
“With $775 million of sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in its first five days, Call of Duty has become the first entertainment property in history to set five-day launch records for three consecutive years across all forms of entertainment,” said Robert Kotick, CEO, Activision Blizzard. “Life-to-date retail sales for the Call of Duty franchise have exceeded $6 billion worldwide, which makes Call of Duty one of the most valuable entertainment properties in the world. We expect continued sales momentum, as reviews and audience enthusiasm suggest that this is the best Call of Duty game that we have ever made. Online play for Modern Warfare 3 is at record levels and we continue to see high online play for both Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, which ranked as the #2 and #4 top-played Xbox LIVE games for the week of November 7, according to Major Nelson.”
“As I have said all year, we have been singluarly focused on making a spectacular game for our fans, and nothing else. Our incredible teams at Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games have done just that,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO, Activision Publishing. “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 continues to thrill core gaming enthusiasts as well as draw new people into the medium, which is not an easy balancing act. But it takes more than a great game. I would also like to thank our incredible team for the pulling off the launch of the year, as well as our retail partners around the world. But most of all, I want to thank our fans. They are our toughest critics, and our biggest supporters, and none of this would be possible without them.”
In addition to beating all previous first-and five-day theatrical box office, book and video game sell-through records, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 set two new records on Xbox® LIVE™.
According to Microsoft:
More than 7.0 million multiplayer hours were logged playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 by the end of launch day, November 8, a 19% increase over last year’s 5.9 million multiplayer hours logged playing Call of Duty: Black Ops last year’s launch day.
More than 3.3 million unique gamers played Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 in one day on November 8 up from 2.6 million unique gamers for Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 set a new record for concurrent players on Xbox LIVE with 3.3 million simultaneous users on November 8.
“The Call of Duty franchise returned to Xbox 360 this year with another record-breaking launch. More than 7 million multiplayer hours were played on Modern Warfare 3 on day-one of launch on Xbox 360,” said Don Mattrick, president of the interactive entertainment business at Microsoft. “And with the exclusive first access to new multiplayer content, we’re proud Xbox 360 is home to the largest and most engaged Call of Duty community.”
The game also set a new franchise mark for the number of simultaneous online gamers playing Call of Duty on PlayStation® Network on its first day, and was the best-selling video game launch of all time in North America on Amazon.com and at Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Walmart.
“In just over a week, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has been hugely successful on PlayStation 3, and continues to drive millions of gamers globally to PlayStation Network with its unprecedented and engaging online multiplayer experience,” said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA). “The Call of Duty franchise is one of the biggest entertainment brands on the planet, delivering gameplay experiences like no other which is why we’re also excited to bring the Call of Duty franchise to our highly-anticipated next generation portable, PlayStation Vita, where we expect fans will continue their dedication to the most amazing Call of Duty experiences whether in the home or on the go.”

Quite sad I have not picked up either BF3 nor MW3 and I remember I was really wanting to get both day 1, and didn't. Still haven't. and don't have the biggest urge to get either. Whatever I feel now is that I'd like to get both but I don't need to go on and get both. MW3 seems to me, from what I've read, to be the new COD game with new tweaks but nothing really new to the series and BF3 seems to be BC games with additional stuff, not major, and the premier version to play is on PC. Man I used to be a BF/COD junky... wtf happened to me? Oh right... FIFA, Forza and GT happened...

Yeah that was really weird. Glad they're not letting EA set this odd sort of precedent.

Your argument is pretty funny to read because it's so internally conflicted. You're calling out people, who "are sick" of it "and think it's stale" and then provide an article that doesn't say anything about how the game is any different from the previous yearly iterations. Instead, the article is mostly about large sales figures. Then you conclude from these sales that people who find the iterations similar to one another are "in the minority." And then, to top it all off - YOU imply that the game is basically the same with "if it aint broke, don't fix it - give us more of what we love!" Absolutely hilarious.
Food for thought:
-Sales = quality?
-If someone purchases the game, does it mean that they think it's fresh?Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

It's simple.
In this case, yes both sales does equal the quality. And what I'm saying is the fans of COD are greater than the amount of people don't like the game anymore and call it the same ol same ol. Of course, not anyone here, but across the net, there's a bandwagon of "COD is MW2.5" going all over.
So you see, it just goes to show people want more COD. They and we love it.
(And no, this is nothing against BF, it's towards the COD haters. -

This should be good..
Unfortunately for the argument you're probably about to build off of this, this is never a truism - but please go on
You're making a really awkward claim. You're making a "greater than" statement where you're asserting the group of people who are COD fans is greater than the amount of "people who don't like the game anymore" AND the group of people that cal it the "same ol." Then, you don't provide the numbers for either group - so we can't tell what is "greater than" what. This statement is rather meaningless because there's really no way to define things and then examine whether it's true or not. Basing this off of sales just confuses the issue even more because (1) sales never equals quality, (2) buying the game does not mean you don't think it's largely the same game you get every year (a shit ton of people buy madden every year for example).
Unfortunately, all it shows is that a shit ton of people bought COD and have played the game.
Gotcha.
I think you can be happy for a game you like that it sold successfully and call that good enough. You don't need to try and figure out a way to turn that into a defeat for anyone else, or a reach for having a bearing on some other argument.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

I guess there's nothing left to say besides, COD out sold BF, and it out scored it. Congrats to Activision and their incredible sales. Top 20 played Live games came out today, 5 COD's up in the top 20. Incredible fan base for a great game.

Lol at immense fanboy cheer leading.
This is just as predicted a month ago:
-Several people predicted that you were trumping up some big "War between the two" so you could come back later and fawn over points that no one was even contending - like "MW3 will greatly outsell BF3." You denied it then saying that we had the wrong idea of your position on these games.
Sure enough, here you are - gloating over a foregone conclusion. LolLast edited by Badger3920; 11-19-2011 at 01:22 AM.

LMAO....its like he thinks someone here cares about sales or something. Truly humorous. So he predicted the masses would eat up the same old re-hash that Activision served up last year.....ROFL. We ALL DID. It doesn't take a genius wizard to make that prediction. I would say 99% of the people in this thread ONLY care about their end-user experience, and depending on what you want.....and EXPECT out of a game, you know which one is best for you.
