What are you talking about? RRS posted review numbers. If you look at those reviews, you get BF3 scoring higher by a negligible amount (.3 - it's not even worth talking about). If you take his numbers and cherry-pick out the console numbers, then MW3 wins by a little more than 3 points. Either way the reviews are "spun" - you wind up with a difference of basically a rounding error. Those are the facts. Give me a break, they reviewed basically the exact same.
As for the "more money" argument - I'm wondering where you're going with that, and what importance it has. Please expand on that point, I'm interested.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

Didn't calm down at all. I don't know what forums you read besides this, but it didn't calm down at all once BF3 scores came out. Anyways, the best part of it imo, is after the scores came out, I loved seeing the early damage control EA did by putting out an "olive branch" to COD.
It was quite amusing.
The "war" between COD fanboys and BF3 fanboys is bigger than you think Badger. It is. Just because you think it's silly, which it could be, doesn't change the fact that there is a war between the 2.
They're both good games though, no doubts about that. Just one is more definitive than the other.
Oh, @ Redsuit, and I know you don't care much. But I'd say even though the Transformers sell huge numbers, and sucky ass bands do too, the reviews for Transformers suck, and other bands as well. So I guess they only get half of the two. COD on the other hand, get's the numbers, and the good reviews.
They're both fun though. I can't wait to see them next generation style. -

Seems it was completely unnecessary. Anyway, this thread went pretty quiet after BF3's reviews proved itself, and people heard that it sold over 5 million in week 1. DICE couldn't have really hoped for much better. There were a few posts, mainly from you, complaining about the game etc - but that was the extent of it.
Asshattery can be injected into any discussion. It can also be ignored.
Only in your opinion. The review scores can paint results in either direction (which is a tell-tale sign that they're the same).Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

I'll wait for GTA 5 for the zoom.
But I don't think PC scores should be averaged into their console counterparts. Ya, I know they're both pretty close, but I don't think PC scores should matter like that.
But anyways, Skyrim is awesome. Oh whoops. Wrong thread. -

It appears that we're doing it right now.
I'm not surprised by this
Well I have no problem with that. If you're objecting to that, it's cool. But the same discussion still applies.
At least you're not 400x zooming like Prime.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

Here is your very first post..
And that has been your stance basically the whole thread. That’s fine if that’s the game you prefer, but let’s not say any of this is nonsense.
And now that COD is out-selling and out-rating, it seems you’re backing off the “vs.” aspect because it didn’t fall your way.

My first post, while probably over the top, is indicative of my feelings on the series. I don't care for modern warfare very much. The games that I've played for more than 15 minutes after COD4 (MW2, WAW) were still very much like COD4.
I've never hidden this opinion -- I've been upfront and honest about it all over the board (Onslaught used to hate me for it until he, too, grew tired of the series and felt burned by his MW2 purchase)
However, this opinion hasn't been the subject of discussion in this thread.
That's simply untrue. I've spent the majority of my time in this thread haggling with digital over various items - namely the importance of comments from CEO's, talking about the beta, and yes - stating multiple times that these franchises are so different that this type of comparison and notion of "war" is ridiculous. That COD is boring to me is true, and I've said so in this thread - but that doesn't make it true that such has been the focus of my posts throughout this thread. Asserting such is just association by convenience.
I'm going to take this last part as a joke because you added the smiley. Especially because I've spent the last several weeks/month in this thread talking about why the "vs" notion is nonsense, and because BF3 has done very well on its own merits.
Chest thumping about "MW3 sold more jillions than the jillions sold by BF3" is disinteresting chest thumping, so you'll have to carry that out with someone who cares.Currently Playing: Uncharted 3, Zelda: Skyward Sword

Oh, there's a "definitive experience" all right. No doubt about it. Its just not the game you think it is, and its definitely not on your platform of choice either.
But then again, we can cherry-pick THAT version and platform out of the discussion to fit your arguement....maybe we should also only pick FPS shooters released in November...would that help as well?Intel i5 2500k (@4.7Ghz) + XFX Radeon 7970 3GB RAM! + 16GB DDR3 RAM (STEAM/Origin: Nealon_Greene)

where am I at 400x zoom? do you mean with the argument over review scores? you are the one saying the scores are so close they are about the same. I disagree, a little. ever heard of gamerankings.com? like metacritic, they compile scores from various sites as well. I wont get into PC scores, this is a console world. but yes, PC scores favor BF3.
gamerankings has :
BF3 ...... 84.19
& 85.98
MW3 ..... 89.64
& 88.69
while the games are a few points in favor for MW3, the difference is not too close to call. as for money, we know MW3 blows away BF3. enough with the reviews and money, numbers dont lie. but know this, the reviews (recognition) and sales figures will come into play when the next line rolls out. whether its casual gamers recalling all the reviews and sales numbers blasting in their face by Activision, or in the cost of advertising vehicles (dewxp.com). and yes I know BF3 had Dr Pepper, but Im pretty sure Dew outsells Pepper (oh no, not another sales battle
).
as for the differences between the two games, its all about preference right? do you like epic scale battles with vehicles? or do you prefer tight, fast paced running and gunning with maybe very little tactics. just preference, but both games are fantastic IMO.
now this is where I wish BF3 were more like MW3:
tons of MP match types - not just conquest/rush/TDM
better co op - Im glad BF3 added co op, but its not as deep as MW3s, and I wih there were survival waves like alot of shooters have nowadays
easy menu navigation - on the PS3 you can not change weapon loadouts between matches, and you can not leave a match until a new match starts.
more rewards and customization - COD is very rewarding with unlocks (weapon mods, perks, killstreaks, etc). while BF3 has more than BC2, I wish BF3 had more.
all in all, I really like both and I know that these will be the only two titles I will not trade/sell when I get tired of ..... because me being a FPS whore, I will never tire of these.

Dude... Just wow. We're seriously going to move this many goalposts for this reach? So your argument begins to kinda sorta hold water once you (1) ignore and extract data from one of the gaming platforms, and (2) go to a different website in search of data that better supports your viewpoint.
And then, if that wasn't enough, you struck up a soda sales discussion as a justification for your argument
Must... find... anchor... for atrocious argument
