So now one of the virtues of the ps3 is that you can instead play a game on a totally different platform? LOL doesn't that defeat the purpose of the system?
"Oh lolz, ps3 is down but its all good in the hood, i can play my pc. Sony rocks!"

Wasn't there a huge outage about a year or so ago? I seem to recall a big thread about it and people panicking like it was the end of the world.

Besides, people who have PS3 copies of portal can play on steam while the issue is resolved I'd rather have the 200-300 bucks I saved so far by not going with XBL.
There was one that lasted for a whole day last year. And along with it, you couldn't play like 90% of all games due to some internal clock issue

I will never forget it. I couldn't play shit, and there was actually a chance it wasn't going to correct itself.

It was like a week of intermittent problems, but not all of Xbox live was down.

I somehow doubt that this is just some random maintenance. If it is, as some are speculating, a result of hackers from Anonymous, that's just immature.

It does suck, if that is the case.

Apocalyps3 wasn't a PSN issue, it was a software bug on Fat PS3's. I had a slim and did not suffer from that issue personally.

PSN as a service has been very reliable until this outage. Suffering from apocalyps3 for one day also surely beats the hardware issues the 360 had.

Cost of XBL.. hardware reliability.. PC instead.. if it’s not a big deal, why the entire playbook?

Amazing thing is that he has saved $300 from not having XBL (not sure how as it would have had to have been retal price paid every onth to get that high.. hell I just reupped for a year yesterday for $29 and that was from a link on the dashboard.. And I keep reading about folks with YLOD and $150 repair bills (actually they raised the price to what I am not sure now) while MS just set aside a chunk of cash and fixed em for free for folks..(I had a launch console and never had an issue with it.. have 3 now (2 new slims and a old 60GB one and never had an issue with them either.. or the 3 PS3s I have owned (down to 1 there now) and still have less money in a single 360+Live from launch than the launch PS3

OK gonna quit posting and go play online..since I can

I'll repeat: Apocalyps3 was not a PSN issue, it was a bug in the PS3 consoles itself, since many PS3's (slims) were unaffected by it. PSN was up and running that day, the servers were fine. PSN hasn't been down for long before this incident.

Doesn't matter, wasn't accessible. To us, it doesn't make a difference. Beyond that there's been plenty of 6 hour (scheduled) maintenance things that they've had.
