I know that. Michaelo was curious about Geohot's opinion and I shared what I remember on the subject.

Sorry, not really clear what you're point is here.

That's all my point has really been the entire time. Sony wasn't in anyone's crosshairs until they went all out with the lawyers. And for a pointless victory over a hacker who was pretty harmless in the scheme of things, since they fixed the problem so quickly.

I share Geohot's viewpoint on you should be able to do whatever you want to the hardware you own, and I bet he'd have a good case if he went to court with the first amendment and all. However you don't own PSN by buying a PS3 and hacking systems you don't own should be punishable by death.

    Pretty much:

"Running homebrew and exploring security on your devices is cool, hacking into someone elses server and stealing databases of user info is not cool. You make the hacking community look bad, even if it is aimed at douches like Sony."

"To the perpetrator, two things. You are clearly talented and will have plenty of money(or a jail sentence and bankruptcy) coming to you in the future. Don't be a dick and sell people's information. And I'd love to see a write up on how it all went down...lord knows we'll never get that from Sony, noobs probably had the password set to '4' or something. I mean, at least it was randomly generated."

    Reconfirming it.

What's with everyone's problem in this part of the forum? Everyone thinks everyone is attacking someone.

No no, just a misunderstanding, didn't think you were attacking me or anything.

Are the Lulz bastards running scared like Anon did?

    http://www.digitaltrends.com/computi...days-of-hacks/

    ...LulzSec’s full statement:

    Friends around the globe,

We are Lulz Security, and this is our final release, as today marks something meaningful to us. 50 days ago, we set sail with our humble ship on an uneasy and brutal ocean: the Internet. The hate machine, the love machine, the machine powered by many machines. We are all part of it, helping it grow, and helping it grow on us.

For the past 50 days we’ve been disrupting and exposing corporations, governments, often the general population itself, and quite possibly everything in between, just because we could. All to selflessly entertain others – vanity, fame, recognition, all of these things are shadowed by our desire for that which we all love. The raw, uninterrupted, chaotic thrill of entertainment and anarchy. It’s what we all crave, even the seemingly lifeless politicians and emotionless, middle-aged self-titled failures. You are not failures. You have not blown away. You can get what you want and you are worth having it, believe in yourself.

While we are responsible for everything that The Lulz Boat is, we are not tied to this identity permanently. Behind this jolly visage of rainbows and top hats, we are people. People with a preference for music, a preference for food; we have varying taste in clothes and television, we are just like you. Even Hitler and Osama Bin Laden had these unique variations and style, and isn’t that interesting to know? The mediocre painter turned supervillain liked cats more than we did.

Again, behind the mask, behind the insanity and mayhem, we truly believe in the AntiSec movement. We believe in it so strongly that we brought it back, much to the dismay of those looking for more anarchic lulz. We hope, wish, even beg, that the movement manifests itself into a revolution that can continue on without us. The support we’ve gathered for it in such a short space of time is truly overwhelming, and not to mention humbling. Please don’t stop. Together, united, we can stomp down our common oppressors and imbue ourselves with the power and freedom we deserve.

So with those last thoughts, it’s time to say bon voyage. Our planned 50 day cruise has expired, and we must now sail into the distance, leaving behind – we hope – inspiration, fear, denial, happiness, approval, disapproval, mockery, embarrassment, thoughtfulness, jealousy, hate, even love. If anything, we hope we had a microscopic impact on someone, somewhere. Anywhere.

Thank you for sailing with us. The breeze is fresh and the sun is setting, so now we head for the horizon.

    Let it flow…

Lulz Security – our crew of six wishes you a happy 2011, and a shout-out to all of our battlefleet members and supporters across the globe
    GAMES!

I'm calling bullshit on this "plan". Funny this all happened just a few short days after one of them got arrested. They were adamantly boasting over going after 4chan and everyone else, none of it seemed like it'd be over in a few days. They went into denial-mode as soon as the arrest news popped up and all of a sudden, 2 days later they're going away? Yeah, sounds to me like the arrests got to them, and more than likely that kid had something relevant to do with them.
    Great quotes on the internet:

I hear Galaxy is brilliant, and it probably is. Just can't picture myself sitting down and playing it. That would take time away from watching the Disney Channel and working on my coloring book.

Yeah totally. Some of their identities have also been revealed by various other hackers. Sounds like someone is scared and is packing it in. Seems weird that on Friday a list comes out with all of their online names and their probable locations and also including some real names...and suddenly their "planned" voyage is at an end.

Yeah, if anyone cares enough to check into it - check out 'the jester' or 'jester' on twitter. He's a white hatter who was hot on their trail. Either he is fucking brilliant and profiled them down to a t, or he got a little lucky. Either way, I think the jester scared the shit out of them, along with the others who were on their trail.

Nobody thinks that they're just saying they're going away? People are taking lying hackers words that they're disbanding and riding off into the sunset? Ya, and there's a bridge for sale I saw the other day down the street. I'll find a price on it.

Is this just PSN Europe, or here too. I turned on my PS3 this morning, but that was to watch a movie. Didn't even notice if it signed in or not.
