They must've revamped the billing system then, I remember having problems trying to remove the only CC I had associated with my Live account a good year+ back when they were double billing me for Gold.

They really did do a great job of setting up the site so that you can do pretty much anything you can do on the console (+ a lot more) except use content that actually requires the xbox. pretty nice setup IMO
I mean there is, but I remember turning off auto-renew was a total bitch. Had to page dive quite a bit just to do it. I appreciate being able to use XBL stuff from a computer when I'm not at my Xbox, sure.... I'm just a little sour from that experience, but I do agree, using the site isn't a big deal, it's just not my first instinct.

    I don't think that's true.
I had 2 cards on my 360. One that expired a few years back and my current card. It was annoying because when I would go to purchase points, the old card was the first on the list to pick from. I have never signed onto the billing website and I remember deleting the card right from my console.
I'll have to see if I can figure out how I did it, but I know it was right from the console itself when I was going to purchase points.

If anyone is interested www.cybercrime.gov has a small list of people who are charged for cybercrimes. This is a small representation of what is going on out there (even though there is lots on that site) as most organizations and governments never reveal these kinds of breaches unless the media gets a hold of it. Fear of loss of confidence, lawsuits and publicizing of a security breach could lead to lots of other attacks.

According to the CISSP exam guide from Shon Harris, 5th edition, the DOD gets upwards of 500 attacks a day. Food for thought.

Hacker group LulzSec has reportedly released a file containing Xbox Live user information in combination with logins for other services such as Facebook, Twitter and Paypal. The exact amount of information compromised is not known at this time but the hacking group isn’t picking targets – casual gamers, long time live players and even government official’s information may have been compromised.

The group uploaded a large file containing usernames and passwords for the various services including Xbox Live last night. The file has since been removed but not before LulzSec could claim that the file had been viewed thousands of times.

The leak was first exposed through LulSec’s twitter account. There they wrote about abusing the breached information and messing with compromised Facebook and Social Networking accounts.

"Envelope yourself in the sickening realization that you secretly love f--king someone's Facebook life beyond repair." - Quote from LulzSec Twitter Account

We’ve reached out to Xbox Live’s community team for comment regarding the possible breach of Xbox Live Accounts. Should any further information break regarding this possible security risk we will make sure to bring it to you. For now the best advice would be to check your Xbox Live account and make sure that your password still works and that no unauthorized purchases have been made on the Marketplace under your account.

Wheres chipvideo and his "yeah, Microsoft probably asked for it"?

But smackdown BS aside, that's really lame. Seriously, something really has to be done. I mean I don't know what, but in the future, this shit's only gonna get worse and the more dependent we become on the internet (which sucks because we're in a transition right now into an internet-based economy, which has it's own set of vices).

Actually from what I read it turns out that MS was not hacked. They released a list of usernames and passwords from other services that used email addresses and passwords and a lot of people used the same password and email on multiple platforms ( facebook, hotmail, etc). The thought was that maybe some of the people used the same login info on their XBL as well, but so far none have been breached according to the article.

Microsoft has released a statement, which states that Xbox Live was not compromised to the best of Microsoft's knowledge, and the logins/passwords were released at random, with people encouraged to try said information on services like Xbox Live (among others). "This group appears to have posted a list of thousands of potential email addresses and passwords, and encouraged users to try them across various online sites like Xbox Live in the event one of the users happens to use the same password and email address combination. At this time we do not have any evidence Xbox Live has been compromised. However we take the security of our service seriously and work on an ongoing basis to improve it against evolving threats."

And you all are completely wrong. Already verified and confirmed, Xbox Live NOT hacked in anyway.
Looks like some of you Sony fans have been waiting for this to happen to Xbox, but it hasn't.

    http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/x...33.aspx#146733

Also, if the information was true, not even close to the same as PSN going down for a Month, and Credit Card information being stolen with 77 Million Accounts hacked.

But it didn't happen, so Aaron can go on hoping.

Yes, this is correct as well. Look how smug MA16 guy is about MS using horribly antiquated security. Nope, your guess is a big huge fail. Arron wasn't the same person quoting the false news this time, with thoughts of his Credit Cards on file being stolen. I was hoping something like this would happen, to see what members here on the forum would jump all over false news, and try to make something of it.

This is a nothing that happened, and even if it was in the smallest bit true, it's a completely different ball game, then what happened to PSN and all of our information.
