Default Downey Disses 'Dark Knight'

http://movies.yahoo.com/feature/down...rk-knight.html

Quote:
The Hatfields and the McCoys. The Yankees and the Red Sox. Jennifer and Angelina. When it comes to a long-running feud, people choose their side and they defend it to the end. For comic book fanatics, it's always been the divide between the two major publishers -- Marvel and DC Comics. Devoted readers on both sides have argued for years over which was better: DC, with it's stable of classic heroes like Superman and Wonder Woman, or Marvel, which has always prided itself on more flawed characters like Spider-Man and The Incredible Hulk.
Leave it to Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. to stir up the hornet's nest again. After his movie opened huge in early May, it looked like Marvel's steel-plated superhero was destined to be the box office champ of the summer. Until, of course, The Dark Knight broke records with its gargantuan July debut, making DC's Caped Crusader the season's richest crimefighter.
In an interview with moviehole.net, Robert Downey Jr. shared his thoughts on the complex story of "The Dark Knight," and he left no doubt where his comic book loyalties lie:
  • "My whole thing is that I saw 'The Dark Knight'. I feel like I'm dumb because I feel like I don't get how many things that are so smart. It's like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I'm like, 'That's not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.' I loved 'The Prestige' but didn't understand 'The Dark Knight'. Didn't get it, still can't tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I'm like, 'I get it. This is so high brow and so [expletive] smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.' You know what? [Expletive] DC comics. That's all I have to say and that's where I'm really coming from." >> Read the full interview.

Downey will have the chance to show his devotion to Marvel Comics again, with production on "Iron Man 2" starting soon. It's scheduled to hit theaters in the summer of 2010.

Its funny because both Iron Man and TDK will probably become 2 of my most watched movies ever. In all honesty I likewhen thingslikethis come about because now youll see all the DC fanboys flame back and itll lead to many humerous internet rampages for me to read.

I think it's an awesome quote. RDJ continues to crack me up. He's clearly joking, anyway.

I don't think he is dissing as a awesome piece of film...I think he is just saying that it obviously takes more thinking to watch than say Iron Man

I like Downey. Good for him. But I don't need Downey to like Dark Knight for me to like Dark Knight. And I do...like Dark Knight.

Couldnt say it better myself. We always wait for that superhero movie to be more than a casual popcorn flick, then within 2 months we get a great ironman movie and TDK which was a special movie.

RDJ is clearly not being entirely serious when he said that.

Also, I don't think GTA IV lived up to the hype, but the Dark Knight did. But I've just learned not to agree with Master X's movie tastes and stay away from that.
