Default Warner Bros. Confirms Superman Reboot

From the looks of it, they are taking the Marvel approach and are going to develop single characters on screen and then put out a "multicharacter film." Here's the link: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=48159

I don't care what people say about this but TDK started something, a Cinematic Revolution. TDK was all about ledger's hype (like some people said) something impossible to achieve with other movie or actor (IMO). The joker is one of the most acclaimed villains of all time (in super-hero movies) even before Ledger's joker.

They can Reboot, re-done, remake what they want, it won't make 500 mil, and don't get me started with titanic please.

Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov has revealed to The Wall Street Journal that the studio has made up its mind about the future of not just the Superman franchise but much of the DC superhero line-up which it owns the rights to develop.

Rather than doing a sequel to 2006's disappointing "Superman Returns", the studio plans to reboot the feature much like Universal rebooted the "Hulk" franchise this year.

Robinov says "'Superman' didn't quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to, it didn't position the character the way he needed to be positioned. Had 'Superman' worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009. But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a [previous] Batman and Superman movie at all."

The studio has also nixed the "Batman vs. Superman" and "Justice League" projects for now as they plan to adopt the same model Marvel Studios is doing right now - releasing a single film for each character, and then using those movies and their sequels to build up to a multicharacter film a few years down the line.

Also like Marvel, the aim is for the DC Comics label to supply two of the 6-8 tentpoles per year that Warners releases by 2011. The studio is aiming to release four comic-book films in the next three years, including a third Batman film, a new film reintroducing Superman, and two movies focusing on other DC Comics characters. They presently have Green Lantern, Flash, Green Arrow, and Wonder Woman projects in development.

Unlike Marvel though with its lighter and more fantasy based approaches (ala "Iron Man," "Spider-Man"), the aim here is the dark realistic tone of "The Dark Knight" for all their heroes - "We're going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it" says Robinov.

Official plans and hopefully dates of these projects will be announced in the next month.

No shit it didn't work out the way you wanted it to. Superman in general is not going to guarantee you a 400 million dollar domestic return.

I actually enjoyed the film.

We'll see how this one works out. Why reboot it? They should just get different writers/director for it and go from there.

IDK.

I really wished that WB would have gone through with the Batman vs. Superman movie.

I know what we need! Batman vs. Predator. Fox and WB co-production. It would be amazing.

What I didn't like about the previous Superman was they made him more of a teen like Smallville... rather then someone older like the Classic Superman. Christopher Reeve did awesome but he was also Older and more likable... they need to get back to those roots... someone fun and all around likable to begin with (Clark Kent should be a lovable, bumbling goof)... someone in their late 30's at least, like maybe Patrick Warburton (who already has the perfect likeable voice for him... as he showed with Kronk) And he get's him back to that right age... no more 90210 Bullshit.

Darkseid could be bad ass in a polka dot bikini He's a freaking god! IMHO I think they'll either go with Brainiac or Metallo.

I'm still up for them continuing Superman from the Smallville show. I thought Tom Welling made a pretty good Superman, and with a film that matures him...it could be a pretty good character development.

I completely stop watching the show after the second season...but I liked the casting of Welling and Rosenbaum.

I'm also up for a Reboot. Returns should have been a reboot, instead of a terrible effort to try and create a sequel to Superman 2. Ugh, what a stupid idea.

So, bring it on!!!

This boycott was started out of respect for the artist. As we all know...Sony or MM don't have any.

I for one am glad Warner is going to reboot Superman, although I enjoyed Superman Returns it should have been a much better film.I also am really tired of seeing Lex as the villan in these damn movies bring on someone that can go toe to toe with Supes, Metallo, Braniac or Darkseid.

While initially disappointed I am very happy that we'll get another Superman film. Unlike others I am intrigued at their attempt to consciously make the film dark.

Please just bring Lex in as a supporting villain at most...they need Braniac or Darkseid as the main villain. Who do you think should be cast as Lex or Lois?
