I've said this before.....If they want to remake something then take a movie that wasnt very good. Give it to a writer that likes a good challenge, learn from the originals mistakes and turn it into something good.

(yes I know this is NEVER going to happen).

But stop taking great movies and turning them into drivel by completely misunderstanding what made them good in the first place.

How many more crappy remakes do we need anyway. Does anybody honestly think in 20 years time people will be watching Tim Burtons Planet of the Apes instead of the vastly superior '68 version. Or the utter disaster that was 2004's Flight of the Pheonix instead of Aldrich's version?

There is NO reason to remake these movies......There is nothing wrong with the originals. They really need to just stop now.

Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?

Hollywood is officially out of ideas. Why do they constantly remake films that don't need to be remade? The film isn't that old. I am so sick of the PG-13 remakes of hard R horror films. I don't get it. This is why I am watching less and less films. I just go and watch the original. I used to go to the movies every week. I'm down to once a month. They release too many films. They don't let films find an audience anymore. They are going to lose my money completely soon enough.

Seriously... if your gonna do a remake it has to go from Rated G or PG to R... Period!!

I'm waiting for an NC-17 version of "The Wizard of Oz", due to Graphical Violence that may be and absolutely fucking is unsuitable for small children. Parental Discretion is denied.

Just start with McFarlane's models and go from there.

Oh, man I read a long while ago that they were going to make an 'Oz' flick using McFarlane's creations. That would be awesome but, do you think that sci-fi channel 'Tin Man' hurt its chances? ( never watched it)

It's name brand recognition. I could see them doing 'The Birds' PG 13 because look at what Hitchcock achieved with a PG rating. The Birds has gore in it, but it's so nicely edited that it looks worse than it is in reality or I should say the perception is that you've seen worse.

As far as 'Poltergeist' goes, again I think that may be originally 'PG' rated. Now, 'the Excorcist' (which they are remaking) or 'Child's Play' (ditto) were both originally 'R' so, they damn well ought to remain 'R'

Hollywood is out of ideas...

They might as well make a Scorcher movie.

And again. And nobody will see it coming...FOUR MORE TIMES.

Yea, but the fact remains is that they make money. As long as people keep seeing these movies, and buying the DVD/ they'll continue. I realize it, and I'm guilty of it at times. I purchased 'Prom Night', which while I enjoyed it quite a bit, is definitely a 'mediocre' movie. It's vehemently disliked by most of the online reviews that I read (so, I rented first) and I enjoyed it. This renting first works. I rented '10,000 B.C.' and thought it was awful, and boring so thankfully I saved myself some money there,....

There is nothing wrong with either of these movies that would warrant a remake except some studio trying to cash in.

I think the major flaw in this (good) theory is that the studios are banking on the titles name to automically boost ticket sales x %.

Why not just re release a remastered version to theaters for a week? I mean there are theaters out there that put older movies on their screen for a night or two.. I've never had the interest to see the movie they choose but instead of remaking it, why not save that 20-30 million (probably low balling the budget figure here, whatever), spend a couple million on advertising, release a GOOD remastered version in theaters and subsequently to Blu Ray and stop ruining classic movies!
