Good choice, in my opinion.

This boycott was started out of respect for the artist. As we all know...Sony or MM don't have any.

Here's a question in all this though... why in the hell would you EVER need to replace Robert England???? He's not Dead.. he's not "Too Popular" for the role, the Older he gets the more authentic he looks (Freddy Krugar was a Perv that preyed on the Neiborhood young.. older men fit that role better anyhow) Make-up would cover him up even if he was 80-years old... and most importantly... He's got the VOICE!!

Nuff Said....

Not sure why the movie would need to be remade. Pretty soon they'll be remaking movies within a year of the previous film's release.

Just like the dude a few posts below said: It's not true, and they want a younger actor. Englund was much younger when he did the originals. I love billy bob but, why would an established actor want to do this and also, you didn't know Englund at the time that's what made those initial movies somewhat scary. If you want it to be campy have Thornton do it, if you want to regain some of the "horror" of the first movie, anyway choose an unknown actor or go with a younger not-as-well-known actor, IMO.

....that being said don't "dis" Englund. He played Freddy AWESOME in Freddy vs. Jason. I wish he'd continue to play Freddy in one more of the 'Freddy vs. Jason' films and they could still go on with their "re imagining"

$Money$ hands down. it's a property that can be exploited, I don't mind that. I don't mind remakes that are actually decent. I didn't hate any of the other remakes of horror flicks: Dawn of the Dead, Halloween, or TCM. And, in the cases of 'Dawn' and 'halloween' I liked those films quite a lot. And, guess what I love the originals too, Halloween being one of my favorite movies of all time.

It just seems odd to have a series' first film remade when the most recent sequel was... well... recent.

Plus Freddy Krueger is still a household name from teenagers to adults.

THAT was funny! Sling Blade was a great movie! I get the feeling that Dwight Yoakum really wasn't flexing his acting muscles in that one though.
