Default Harry Potter 6 Delayed till July '09

I'm fighting the forums here to try to get the link and such... (why didn't I just copy when I had the chance????) Anyway it appears as if the 6th installment of the harry potter flicks has indeed been pushed back until July of 09. Very sad news here, I loved the books and very much enjoy seeing them come to life on the big screen!

Assuming I can even start this thread I hope someone posts back which his link. HDD is very much against me reloading the bugs thread ATM.

Edit: Link

SON OF A BITCH!!!

This was pretty much the last "big film" that I was looking forward to this year. Ugh, now I got to watch HP with other Summer Releases?

I hope it's actually because the film itself is taking longer to do, and not for some stupid "money" thing.

I guess, it's a indie winter.

The official boycott start date: November 17th, 2008

This boycott was started out of respect for the artist. As we all know...Sony or MM don't have any.

I almost feel like that except that I am looking forward to seeing Adam Sandler's Bedtime Stories and of course Quantum of Solace.

the reasoning is twofold, from the article: MONEY, and MONEY. so....blame WB being greedy post Dark Knight success. can you blame them? YES, YES YOU CAN.

In making the announcement, Mr. Horn stated, "Our reasons for shifting 'Half-Blood Prince' to summer are twofold: we know the summer season is an ideal window for a family tent pole release, as proven by the success of our last 'Harry Potter' film, which is the second-highest grossing film in the franchise, behind only the first installment. Additionally, like every other studio, we are still feeling the repercussions of the writers' strike, which impacted the readiness of scripts for other films—changing the competitive landscape for 2009 and offering new windows of opportunity that we wanted to take advantage of. We agreed the best strategy was to move 'Half-Blood Prince' to July, where it perfectly fills the gap for a major tent pole release for mid-summer."

What I'm thinking is that they showed the movie to some focus group and the responses were very bad so they're going to take this time to reshoot or something. I just can't see sitting on a movie for 10 months when no matter what it will ultimately make near teh same amount of money.

focus groups would be a reason, too, using $ as a lie to cover up said troubles, perhaps the film tested far too dark? who really knows, except the warner execs who ain't gonna divulge

Very disappointing... especially after the great teaser.
James Bond is the only film I'm now looking forward to this fall/winter.
The only thing that could be worse is if Warner actually changes the movie to be less dark.

Dissapointing that this is all about cash... Seriously though, will it make that much in summer '09 than fall '08? I mean as strong as the potter series is?

Especially when there is less competition in the fall than in the summer.
