There's been much speculation of late on the gleaming silver "Corvette-like" concept car spotted on the set of the new Transformers movie. Some outlets have incorrectly asserted the concept is a potential design for a next-generation C7 Corvette. They're wrong. Oh, it's a Corvette, but our well-placed sources tell us the concept, which we've revealed in an exclusive shot of the clay concept above, is GM's Corvette Centennial Design Concept. We expect to see it revealed early next year, months before it debuts on the silver screen in Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen.

I honestly don't like the looks of that vet too much... Much bigger fan of the '68 through 76 era... My fav designs are come out of the '50s though, I just love roadsters.

Isn't that what basically became the ACR?

I prefer the 50s Vettes too, but the new ones still have a certain wow factor. Only thing I don't like on that one is the window on the hood. Everything serves a purpose but that.

Not really (I could be wrong). The ACR is the 2009 Viper. The Mopar is more of a concept car.

YOU'RE looking at Dodge's answer to the Porsche 911 GT3 RS or Lotus Exige, a road car you can drive to the track, hot lap all day, and drive back home, tires, brakes, and ego intact. The Viper ACR is raw. It's wired. And it's probably the best weekend racer yet from Detroit.

The ACR has exactly the same power and torque as the regular Viper-600 horses and 560 pound-feet. The engine drives through a smaller dual plate clutch that reduces rotating inertia by 18 percent and the latest iteration of the Tremec T6060 six-speed that includes triple-cone synchros on first and second, and 10-percent-wider gears to manage the torque. The new GKN ViscoLok diff features its own sump to quicker generate the hydraulic pressure needed to actuate the limited-slip clutches faster, yet more progressively and with greater precision.

Most of the time, effort, and development dollars have been spent on stuff that makes the ACR go faster through the twisty bits-suspension, brakes, wheels and tires, and aerodynamics. Especially the aerodynamics. Just chew on this for a moment: At 150 mph, the regular Viper coupe generates 100 pounds of downforce; at the same speed, the Viper ACR generates 1000 pounds of downforce.

That giant carbon-fiber rear wing is the most obvious reason why. But there's also a new carbon-fiber front splitter that extends way back under the car and incorporates seven steps to diffuse the airflow. The new hood louvers unveiled with the 600-horsepower engine upgrade a year ago play a part, too. "We knew we were going to do a new ACR, so we moved the louvers forward to help change the aero balance of the car," says SRT boss Herb Helbig.

Suspension changes include race-style KW shocks all around that can be adjusted for stiffness and ride height, springs twice as stiff as those in a normal Viper, and a beefier front stabilizer bar. Forged "Sidewinder" alloy wheels save 30 pounds of unsprung weight, and new two-piece StopTech brake rotors save a further 30. Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires-basically barely legal race rubber-are standard.

The standard ACR is 40 pounds lighter than the regular Viper coupe. An optional "Hard Core" pack saves an extra 40 pounds through the removal of the audio system, underhood silencer pad, trunk carpet, and tire inflator. The radio is replaced by a lightweight cover that can be configured to mount the lap timer that comes with the package. Hard-core, indeed.

In the other hand the Mopar:

They're saying that this special edition 2008 Dodge Viper may have "even more venom" than the incredible Viper SRT-10. Mopar, the performance parts division of DaimlerChrysler, went and tinkered with the incredible supercar and out the other end came a 675hp behemoth that will surely send all those other wannabes cowering into their respective corners.

They've dressed it up in a brilliant dark gray paintjob, mated with a large GT-style wing, and some lightweight 19-inch alloy wheels in glossy black. The looks alone will get the drool pools going, but let's mosey on over to some of the digits associated with the Mopar Viper. The 8.4L V10 -- mated with a cold air intake and adjustable coilover suspension -- will push this car from zero to 60mph in under four seconds, coming back to a complete stop in under 100 feet. Astounding. I'm afraid to ask about that other important number: price.

Looks like almost the exact same body. Same front end except for the two winglets on the right and left, same wing, same hood, appears to have the same diffuser underneath. Only thing is the extra ponies.

I think the REAL killer is going to be the GTR SpecV:

Here's what we found out: Nissan's newest supercar will have a very limited production run. Unlike the stock GT-R, the Spec V will be a 2-seater, though both models will look virtually identical. Output of the GT-R's 3.8-liter twin-turbo V-6 has been increased to 520 bhp at 6500 rpm and 440 lb.-ft. of torque peaking from 3200–5200 rpm. The Spec V will be slimmer by about 200 lb., tipping the scales at 3615 lb.

I really like the look of that Vette though. And the GTR's rear end sure looks pretty familiar to me.

aren'y they stickign with gm cars? the first film had all gm, isn't that true with the sequel? i can see the corvette, maybe camaro and def the other cars making it into the sequel. but i doubt it we will see a ford or dodge in a gm movie?

Unless GM or Chevy paid millions they can be replaced by something else. Pontiac was there (I am not sure if Pontiac is part of the Chevy-GM group).
