Iron Man 2 is masterful. Ask Bane. *Snicker*

No but seriously, I very much get where you're coming from.

Yea, it's just something I notice while watching Thor. Like, it was enjoyable...but forgettable. Captain America I just felt was awful. It what started my whole revaluation towards the Marvel line. Like, something snapped...and Captain America was a part of it.

It just killed any and all high that I had before the inevitable Avengers trailer. I just don't care anymore. I'm indifferent to their existence.

Not too mention Jackson hasn't done a single quality thing since ROTK. I doubt he can muster the will to make these worthy.

I really miss the idea of Del Toro doing the film.
I was very glad when Del Toro left The Hobbit. But that was because the other movies he was working on sounded much more interesting to me. I love Del Toro films and use to dig Peter Jackson films till he did the LOTR series. I am not much of a fan of those. But his pre-LOTR stuff is all gold. Loved The Frighteners, Dead Alive, Heavenly Creatures, and Meet the Feebles. I did enjoy King Kong, but that is about it. I guess I feel about King Kong the way you do about Marvel flicks.

And had Del Toro not left Hobbit, would we get an alien movie that was supposed to star Tom Cruise, but they went with Stringer Bell instead? And Charlie Day? Add Hellboy and I am already more looking forward to Pacific Rim over Hobbit.

The past week rented V (2009) Seasons 1 on DVD & 2 on BD (for some reason Netflix did not have S1 available on Blu-ray).

Season 1: It was definitely cheesy, very plot twisty, and Tyler is perhaps the worst character ever in Television history. But it had great writing, good acting, a cast I mostly enjoyed watching, and despite the abundance of plot twists I thought the show had good pacing that kept my attention all the way until the end. Not to mention, Laura Vandervoort's, Morena Baccarin's and Elizabeth Mitchell's hotness went a long way at keeping my attention as well. I'd give it 3.5-4/5.

Season 2: What happened? I struggled to get through it from the very first episode, until the last, if it weren't for the PS3's 1.5 forward function, I would have given up on it a lot sooner. It was so bad, it compelled me for some strange reason to keep watching to see how bad it can get. It got pretty bad. Characters that were likeable to me in Season 1 just became annoying in S2. I mean S1 had a good amount of double crossing going on but that amount pretty much went off the scale in S2. There was so much double and triple crossing going on, it just became ridiculous. Same with the plot twists. S1 had its fair share of them as well but I thought they were well timed and contributed mostly positively to the story, in S2, it seems like they are there just for the sake of it. Worst part above all was the writing. S1 had great writing imo but in S2, it was just pretty weak. Felt like the show replaced the goodwriters with ones that relied on how many badly placed plot twists they could come up with. Lol, have rambled on for way too long. I'd give S2 a 1.5-2 at best outta 5. Not even Vandervoort's/Baccarin's/Mitchell's hotness could save this one for me.

Shogun Assassin. Long story short, hated it. Prefer the series Lone Wolf & Cub much, much much more.

To be fair, it does however make for a decent introduction for those that haven't seen it yet who might end up watching the full series because of it.

I'm assuming you watched the BD's? How did they look if you did? Just wondering how much they improved on the original film, or if they were just upscale.

Personally, having seen Lone Wolf and Cub, I just can't stand Shogun Assassin. You just miss so much of the true character of the series.

Long story short, have not watched the BDs.

From what I understand, the recent BD box set release has the chopped up version of the first two LWaC films we both despise so much and the other four films only include the english dub as well, no thanks. I will be passing on a purchase and Netflix doesn't seem to have the BDs available and I doubt they ever will.

Was hoping to finally upgrade my original AnimeEigo Lone Wolf DVDs but it looks like that won't be happening. Why they decided to release the hacked up and english dub versions on BD, instead of the jpn language originals is beyond me. FWIW, there's a review up at br.com and they gave the BDs good video scores.

Edit: I hope AnimeEigo release the jpn originals on BD down the line.

You have the same set that I do, and you know what, I'm happy with it until they do something on the order of a remaster.

Streamed Saints and Soldiers on Netflix the other night. Very decent WWII film. Some parts felt dull but overall, I liked the story and actors gave mostly terrific performances. I'd give it 3.5-4/5

Even the people that liked Jacksons films seem to be seeing the same. I'm sure it'll do well, but there is no nerd buzz at any of the places I visit. (Which isn't many, to be fair.)

I'm excited for Spidey, Prometheus and Skyfall.
