What movie franchise would you reboot? and Why?
If you had the millions of dollars that hollywood had. What movie franchise would you reboot and why?
I would reboot the Highlander Series. I always felt that the first 2 were great but then it sort of went down hill afterwards. The series had great potential to be of greater potential.
Other movie franchises that i would reboot are:
1.) Jumper - The story was a bit lacking. Great Idea though.
2.) Shogun Assassin aka Lone Wolf and Cub - This needs to be redone for North American Audiences
3.) Escape from NYC - They are suppost to remake this film. Not sure if they will.
4.) Miami Vice - Although, i love Michael Mann's work, I think he could have made it stylistically cooler for the 21st century.
That's about it now.
What do you guys think? What would you reboot and why? -

Ahhhhhh Highlander......Never was an advertising line so acurate for a film....Truly, There should have been only one

The problem with Highlander is that it was a great idea that was self contained in that one film. Everything after that seemed done just to cash in.
Not exactly a reboot but I would love to see the 'Hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy' series continue....The film had some serious issues (The radio series is still the best version) but I would have liked to see what they could do with the other books.
I would also love to see a big screen outing for 'Doctor Who'. They did some incredibly embarassing ones in the 60's with Peter Cushing but after the successfull rebooting of the TV series in the UK I think they could do something cool for the big screen now. -

critters....great fun, cheesy acting could have the potential to be the next saw series by launching a new one every Halloween...
and speaking of Halloween, that is another that needs some revamping.
also Friday the 13th and nightmare on elm street. great concepts, not so great stories that followed the first entries. -

What do you mean by 'rebooting a franchise'? >do you mean make it better?

One would hope that the reboot was better. Chris Nolan's Batman Begins was a reboot of the Batman franchise, does that make it clear as to what a reboot is?
To answer the original question I'd like to remake the Mad Max "Franchise". I'd also like to see Dune done properly - although I stand by the opinion that it is an "unfilmable" series by studio standards. It would take at least three movies to tell the story and I just don't see studio bosses giving this the LOTR treatment.Steve Zissou: Anne-Marie, do all the interns get Glocks?
Anne-Marie Sakowitz: No, they all share one. -

After seeing what was done with 'The Mummy,' I'd give considerable thought to bringing back Sinbad. (It feels almost sacrilegious to tamper with Harryhausen's work...)
Apart from that, I'd like to give 'Doc Savage' a second chance since we can't seem to get anything going on a 'Buckaroo Banzai' sequel.Toshiba HD-A3

Robocop - Really liked the movies but they are especially cheesy. Special effects of today could give this franchise a big boost.

I think MGM is in the process of rebooting ROBOCOP. It would be awesome to see a new version of robocop. I always felt that the series had potential. It just didn't make sense that his environment wasn't even as futuristic as he was. Why in the hell would a city spend millions of dollars on 1 robot? Wouldn't they spend that money on upgrading their city/infostructure first?
ANyways.. i love robocop! -
