Hot Fuzz not funny...
When I heard about this movie with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost reteaming with the same director of Shaun of the Dead I was really excited, but I was REALLY dissapointed by this movie.
Right from the beginning I was waiting for this movie to get funny. Never happened. i couldn't believe it. Especially after all the praise this movie received. -

Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, but I thought the movie was hilarious. In some ways I think it was better than Shaun of the Dead....
....At the same time Shaun is vastly superior in many ways.
It really depends on if you're a 'fan' of the buddy-cop/action genre I guess. Just like Shaun is more enjoyable if you a fan of zombie films.Last edited by Super-VHS; 02-23-2008 at 06:13 PM.

I wasn't too impressed with it either. The first half of it was very boring. It did get funnier. Yet not hilarious. I could have done without seeing it.

I didn't like either of the films. I maybe laughed a little more during Shaun, but hardly enough to enjoy it as a comedy.

I somewhat agree. Shaun is the better movie. (imo)

Maybe it was just too much British humor.

I freaking love their movies. I personally enjoyed Hot Fuzz the most...however, you have to have a love for action films. Like you really have to be a fan of the genre to really find it hilarious. Though, I think the film works without such an intimate knowledge.
Also, you might like to know that they were originally going to give Angel a love interest. However, they decided it be funnier to give the dialog to Nick Frost.
There are so many cameos from Action Series and homages. It really is a huge clusterfuck of homages. I'm also a pretty big fan of British Humor.
However, someone ^^^ above me said it best...you'll probably enjoy one over the other, if you like a particular genre over the other. -

Peter Jackson's cameo really came out of nowhere...

I didn't like Hot Fuzz much either, just the last 20 minutes. Shaun of the Dead was awesome.

I didn't think this movie was all that and a bag of chips either. There's definitely some funny parts, but it's not anything hysterical or noteworthy in my book. While I normally appreciate dry, british humor, for some reason this movie just didn't hit the mark with me.

I hated Shaun of the Dead because of the characters and i've never been able to get all the way thru Hot Fuzz even though it has some funny moments.
I usually like British stuff.
Check out Severance and Evil Aliens. Much better.
