gonna be a bad ass movie. written by Nick Cave (yes the singer) and directed by John Hillcoat, the who who brought us the Proposition!

Ledouche? I love Nick Cave and John Hilcoat. They've yet to fail me. But...Shia? Ugh...

    I've already seen it.

It's pretty decent. A fun, but super violent, view of the Prohibition days. Really liked Tom Hardy in this, Shia not so much. Guy Pearce plays a great smarmy douche like he always does. I did feel like it felt rushed. Like it was hurrying up to end just so it could end. Almost felt like there were some character-specific scenes cut out since there are a few characters you're meant to care about but they aren't all that care-worthy.

Anyway, it's a pretty good little Prohibition/gangster flick.

Oh and there's not NEARLY enough Gary Oldman. He only has about 5 minutes of total screen time. That really disappointed me.

I've only seen The Proposition, loved that one. Keep meaning to watch The Road, especially since I did read the book, just never got around to it. As long as we don't get smart ass Shia, he could be okay in it. But Hardy, Pearce and the guy from Brotherhood have been solid in everything I have seen them in.

They probably had tO cut around the terrible Shia.

How's the soundtrack? I love Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.

Soundtrack is pretty fun. Very backwoods 20s. Kinda 'Boardwalk Empire'-esque but with more twang.

Saw it. Dug it. Bought the soundtrack.

The cover of White Light/White Heat was awesome.

Watched Lawless this morning. It was pretty great. A couple surprised for me though. The actor who I didn't have any faith in, Shia, was actually really good. And one of my favorite actors Guy Pierce, I didn't care for. Just felt like one of those characters who was weird for the sake of being weird and didn't come off natural for me. Hardy and Jason Clarke were both beasts. Never found Clarke to be too imposing in Brotherhood, but pulled if off great here. Not nearly enough Oldman. The girls were good.

Seriously, this is worth the price of admission alone.
