One of my guilty pleasures. I dont know why, but I loved that movie as a youngster. I watched it again recently and its really kind of bad but i still enjoy it. Whats funny is the main character is a real estate guy on the Texas coast but also does photography.

In defense of King Kong (one of my favorite remakes), the original was honored in the slow build structure, involving us in caring for the main characters. It was a hard decision but if watched again, it goes much faster than it did the first time around.
You are certainly paid back for your patience with nonstop action once they reach the island!

    Hate Jack Black. Hate.
    Not. Funny.

Tangentially, I also hate poorly conceived CGI effects that disregard physics entirely. I'm looking at you, Peter Jackson. What could have been an otherwise fine fantasy film was DOA for me. Poor Naomi Watts' bones would have been pudding after the first couple shakes in King Kong's fist. Jackson didn't even give her bruises. The consequence free rag-doll treatment KILLED that movie for me.

For similar reasons, I absolutely HATE the way Legolas mounts the horse during the Warg attack in TTT. And to lesser extents, the Kong-esque shaking Treebeard gives the hobbits and most of Legolas's other silly stunts in the movies (I get that elves have preternatural balance and lightness of foot, but the Mūmakil trunk slide was cheesy beyond belief -- only the head shake and look Orlando Bloom gives afterwords redeems the moment).

I can go on. Why does getting clobbered by a hypersonic Neo at warp speed do less damage to Trinity than hitting pavement (or a car roof) at 120 mph? Silly climatic moments.

What was this thread about again?

Oh yeah. I hate Jack Black.

Count me in as one that loves Peter Jackson's King Kong. I just think they should have removed the overly sappy sliding on ice clip. I do agree that High Fidelity should have made the top five list though <:
    XBOX360 Elite
    Sony Playstation 3

High Fidelity should be #1. School of Rock is the only other film I've liked him in.
