Default 5 Films You Might Not Realize Were Directed by Martin Campbell

5 Films You Might Not Realize Were Directed by Martin Campbell

Just as we did last week with 'Super 8' director J.J. Abrams, this week we're going to highlight some of Campbell's past films that you may not realize are his:

wow. an article on 5 surprising films directed by Martin Campbell which, in actuality, are his 5 most well known and most expensive movies (along with his now 6th 'Green Lantern' obviously)...

honestly, how much different and worthy is this write up when compared to a quick glance at Campbell's wikipedia page?

I also knew those films were directed by Martin Campbell, but this article wasn't for us, it was for people who are not as familiar with him. I happen to think Campbell is excellent at building tension in a film, while rewarding his audience with amazing action sequences. The only thing I disagree with in this article is the review of Vertical Limit. While a silly film, the entire movie is memorable, including an Avalanche that really gave my subwoofer a workout when the DVD for the movie was released. Try it again, turn off your brain, and enjoy the over-the-top experience.

i just don't see it. if you're aware of Martin Campbell's presence as a solidly good action director then you fully know which films he's made that are known to the public (since all of his other films minus the 6 mentioned are virtually unknown to basically everyone), and if you do not know who Martin Campbell is or what are his well known films then you aren't an experienced film viewer.

i think much of these recent write ups are rather wasteful and the time spent on them would be much better suited for the MANY films not reviewed by this site yet like An Affair to Remember, Angel Heart, or Once Upon a Time in America, to name a few.

Casino Royale: awesome. Goldeneye: overrated piece of cow dung that surprisingly didn't immediately kill the franchise. (Probably only because it had been 6 years since the previous Bond, and everyone was jumping at the chance to finally see a new Bond film.) So glad that the other Brosnan directors didn't cowtow to the actor's desire to portray Bond as some *****-whipped chump. --Something that actually occurs (again) in Casino Royale...just that Craig is such a convincing, intense actor that he pulls off the precipitous task of "Bond in love" without making him look weak, like Brosnan did in Goldeneye.

Goldeneye rocked, because of Sean Bean and Famke Jansen.

Martin Campbell? Out of all directors? There's no mystery as to what he's directed, though.

No offense Luke but I think most film fans know that all of those films were directed by Martin Campbell. I think he's a decent director but nothing special, of all the films he made Casino Royale was definitely my favorite.

Speaking of Bond films, any word on the release of the last nine Bonds on blu-ray, now that the deal with MGM has been resolved?

The last word I heard was that they were ramping up for a November 2012 release - but that was shortly after the issue was resolved and they found distribution. Who knows where it lies now?

No, I get why these stories keep popping up. It's a SEO strategy to generate more hits to the site. It's business and marketing at its best. I don't blame the writers, though.

In SEO (search engine optimization) they tell you that writing headlines like the ones from these types of stories come up more frequently during searches, etc.
