They started doing this last night, but a friend was not admitted to it, so the theater gave him passes for Thor and X-Men.

I closed my Twitter account about 6 months ago, because I found it useless. My closest REAL Imax is a 45 minute drive anyways, and I have to be in at 6AM for work anyways. But I am off Friday, so I am planing to see it then. Can't wait!

Spot-on. I can't say much, but definitely see it ASAP. The bigger the screen, the better.

HDD's story is in ERROR! The "secret" showings are on THURSDAY night, not Wednesday night. I confirmed this by calling the theater that came up as available through the Super 8 site.

EDIT: Well, HDD's story is technically in error, but not completely. I can't find any showing at midnight tonight, but I was able to find one theater in my area (an IMAX theater) that is showing Super 8 starting at 11:00am tomorrow (THURSDAY). That's truly 1 day early. But it's an extremely limited number of theaters doing this.

Apparently, just about every theater is doing a midnight showing on FRIDAY MORNING (late Thursday night).

But I'll be darned if I can find a single theater anywhere that is showing it starting TONIGHT (Wednesday night).

Well, I saw this news story and went to check it out on Fandango where my Local Tinseltown theater had a listing it at 12:01 a.m. on the 9th. I know how to read a clock and so I knew that means that Wednesday night it is only the 8th until midnight so 1 minute later it is 12:01 of the 9th. Unfortunately, it turns out I was the only person who knows how to tell time because there was not only no showing but no one else waiting to get in.

They will probably show it tonight, but that would actually be the 10th and not so much of a sneak preview but just a midnight matinee. It wouldn't be quite so bad if it weren't for the cost of gas.

I had this issue with Harry Potter - My theater listed a 12:01, 12:02, 12:03, 12:04 etc showing. Apparently they don't know how to tell time either. I had a lot of trouble with this as apparently the 7th movie opened a day or two earlier overseas, and many theaters in the US were doing early screenings

I was thinking this yesterday and said no way it's tonight, they usually do this sneak peaks FRIDAY 12:01AM.

Few people understand time, what a sad society we've become.

I'm hoping less people show up tonight so I get a good seat LOL

Check your local IMAX, XD and other premium screens. They are ALL showing it today, throughout the day. Fandango's error. Not mine. Not Paramounts. It is already showing on more than 5 screens in the greater Salt Lake area - and this is UTAH I'm talking about. If it's playing on the premium screens here, it's got to be playing on yours too. This isn't just 12:01 midnight screenings. You can see it right now.

Yes, Super 8 DID open a full day early with showings during the DAY today (Thursday, June 9) at a very limited number of theaters.

However.... Exactly as vindrus points out, the theater closest to my house (the theater I go to most often) listed a 12:01am showing for Thursday, June 9. 12:01am on Thursday June 9 was LAST NIGHT, not tonight. Yet, what they mean is a 12:01am showing on Friday, June 10.

It's not Fandango. It's the stupid ass theater chains that don't know how to tell time.

At any rate, I'll be at the 12:01am showing tonight to see Super 8 with friends. I can't remember the last time I was up until 2:30 in the morning!
