I did like the film, though it was pretty much a generic action movie. They did fuse together the elements of the other franchises pretty well. I think the main bit we disliked about the story was that it was too simplistic and there wasn't character interaction. For instance, they every so vaguely mentioned that Hulk has now become able to master his rage level. That was a big step in the Hulk universe if I remember correctly, though not really worth discussing in this movie. But hey, have to spend at least a few mintutes on Captain America trading cards! It seemed like they'd never focus too much on one character for long before launching off to another scene with another character, almost as if the director has ADD. I did like the action elements, but I do prefer more character driven movies like the first Spiderman, Batman Begins, or even Thor. I still think Xmen was probably marvels best ensemble cast movie, but it's too bad nobodies been able to produce something on the level of The Seven Samurai as far as large casts are concerned.

2nded. Just got back from it and loved every minute. I thought there were great interactions between all the characters. Awesome action and story. Every actor was on top. Will see this again in theaters and last time I did that was The Dark Knight.

3D doesn't do anything for the narrative or art for the film. Color can and does. The color red means something. Just like the color blue can change the feeling of a scene. It's a tool to enhance emotion. It's not essential though. Depends on what you want to convey. Black and White certainly makes things stark, and "dreamy."

3D merely makes the experience into a "ride." Which, I feel cheapens cinema. Not too mention the technical/evolutionary limitations of the format itself.

This film was shot in 2D and converted to 3D.

Just about any time Stark was on screen was magic. As well as Coulsen, he was great too. Especially the part where he comes off as kinda stalkerish with Captain America.

Saw it last night and it blew me away. Best movie I've seen in a while. Gonna see it again tomorrow night with coworkers!

I feel kinda odd. I enjoyed the movie. But I feel like had this movie come around 5 years ago, I would have been going gaga over it.

Not sure if that's growing cynicism.

The movie was awesome. Loved every second of it.
    Spoiler:
I really liked how Tony Stark was pretty much the main character. The villain they showed during the credits, was that Thanos?

Oh and our Cinemark theater just opened their new XD (Extreme Digital) theater which is their version of IMAX and I felt like it blew IMAX out of the water. $14.50 a ticket though but when they showed the Prometheus trailer it was breathtaking. Everybody in the theater clapped after the trailer was over, I've never seen that.

Schindler's List is a good example of a primarily black and white movie that uses color to make the viewer feel something.

3D does tend to make a movie feel like a "ride," which would be cheap if we were talking about Schindler's List....but we're not...we're talking about a fucking comic book movie....with superheros....it's like a step up from a cartoon.

If they could make a 3D movie with the same PQ as 2D, and without the need for glasses, I would certainly buy a 3D tv without question.

That's just assuming every film has to be more than a ride. The Avengers is not high art. It is a ride. And it is meant to be taken as one.

Same with just about every other film released in 3D. 3D is a tool to enhance the viewers "ride" essentially. Not everyone likes it. Not everyone ever will. But the attitude that it has no place in cinema is annoying, and very narrow minded.
