... the "jump to 1st new post" option? Or whatever it's proper name is, the little downwards pointing arrow next to thread titles. Or is it just me?

Whenever I use it, whatever browser I'm using, it always sends me to a post that is usually pages away from the last actual post I read. It's extremely infuriating as it makes it very difficult to actually follow most threads.

Anyone have any insight into why this happens?

I guess it's something specific to here as it never happens on the other forums I use.
