Default Hall of Shame

I want some user opinions on this matter.

We keep getting some banned users coming back to use the trading forum. What can I say, it is a pretty good place to deal, right?

Anyways, many of these users were banned on TRADING related issues, inability to follow through on their side of deals, harassing, blackmailing, threatening trading partners, that sort of thing.

What do you, the users of this site, feel about having their names (name, city/state, no street info) being listed in a trading Hall of Shame?

I know, it is a slippery slope to even ask. It would be locked and limited to only mods posting in it, so that accusations would NOT be the basis, only proof. It would discourage our repeated problem users from coming back to try to screw our good users. This list would be limited to those we have proof were problematic traders who could not follow rules, so it would be their own faults that they'd be on the list.

Other sites have this, and with the persistence of a few banned members, who were bad traders, I feel that it may be time here. What are YOUR thoughts?

I say sure, why not. They took the time to come on here and screw us, so back at them. There are plenty of us who are legit honest traders, we don't need anyone messing it up for us.

I voted "yes", however effective feedback maybe serves the same purpose - except by the time it becomes obvious in the feedback that there is a problem with someone who used to be reliable, it is too late for a lot of folks (as had happened already in a couple of cases).

I voted yes. Seeing that it would "mods-only" it prevents someone from adding another trader to the list for dumb reasons, and it helps to prevent/discourage BANheads from returning. Go for it. Make the "criteria" well known and outlined.

I am all for it, the only thing this would do is help to weed out the banned members who are potentially coming back to infect the trading boards.

Those jerks got away with it. Am I happy about it? No. But I'm not going to dwell on it either. The majority of members here are good folks whom I am happy to trade with. They are the ones that keep me coming back. Also as for project-blu's comment about other sites doing this already. Put me down as being completely against HDD becoming more like DVDTalk.
iTrader doesn't affect banned users coming back to create trouble. We have a few users who have been caught over 5x each, and each time they've made some trouble in the Marketplace. I agree, this would NOT affect the fact that things HAVE happened, but it would be a good step towards not letting those people back, keeping them out.

You'd be surprised on how many banned users get harbored here by people who know but don't care.

This is the sole intention of this proposal. Weed out users who have been banned...and banned...and banned. keep them from being an issue in the future. we already have one user mentioned in the forum rules about this. It has worked so far.

This is up to everyone, not just me, hence the open forum discussion. keep on debating

Since you said that several people are scamming legit traders on here, getting banned, & then doing it again, it definitely needs to dealt with via a trading hall of shame. The trading hall of shame would help ensure the integrity of the trading forums.

This "Hall of Fame" would only work for trades, and not sales. Furthermore, if someone was banned, they could just use the name of another person in their household and then the HoS becomes useless (if only name, city, state are used)
but I guess it could be better than nothing

If you pay by paypal, The buyer can see the name of the person who they are sending the money to before the money is sent.
