Facebook, Myspace, Twitter and every other "Social Networking Site" are the bane of my existence. You have no idea how difficult it is to manage people and get projects done until you notice they are all on facebook all day. We severed our connections to those sites and magically deadlines were getting met with ease. At least with HDD forums there is some knowledge being passed from person to person. With those other sites it's just drivel nonsense.

Sorry, I just had to vent...... but I can't stand Facebook and the "net stalking" it perpetuates.

I won't say this is a bad idea, I know a lot of people like those social sites... I do have a FB but I'm almost never on it.... I spend too much time actually being here lol.

I joined Facebook at the request of a friend. Shortly thereafter I discovered that Facebook had-- YES-- raided my address book and sent "invitations," supposedly originated and "signed" by ME-- to a half-dozen friends!!

I went into a rage-- particularly when I discovered that Facebook simply refused to remove my information from their site. "You might change your mind," the smarmy reply was. I was told I could remove it myself and then, and only then, Facebook would de-activate my account and remove all traces of my existance.

However, when I threatened to report their transgressions to the Louisiana State Public Service Commission, my requests were immediately granted!

Somehow I don't think even a smug cyber-punk organization like Facebook has the nerve to deal with Louisiana politicians!!! (LOL)

The invitations were sent because you allowed them to, they ask if you want to, and you probably clicked yes. So blame yourself.

I did no such thing!!!!!! I clicked NOTHING to allow any such thing. I was "asked" NOTHING about giving permission (which I would NOT have done!) to contact people in my PERSONAL address book and using MY name to entice them in.

What are you? Are you a 17 year old shill for that company????

Telling me I "MAY" have slipped up and allowed this is one thing. Asserting that I "PROBABLY" clicked Yes when I, a LITERATE person, would never have done any such thing........ how smarmily presumptious of you!
Intelligent people READ what they "sign."

Well, sorry to be "testy" but I find your smug assertion highly offensive.
But I'm NOT sorry for the continued use of "Shouting Caps" as that is exactly what I'd be doing face to face!

That's what I get for having the temerity to criticize one of these new children's toys!!!!!

Think I'll just go back to reading about Blu-Rays and HD TV reception and leave the "comments" to those more inclined to argument. Or those who simply don't care WHO in the world or on the net is on the way to owning their souls!

Oh wow. I'm just saying how it goes for Facebook, it is one of the first thing it asks you. So chances are more than likely, you were skipping as fast as you can through registration and clicked yes. Just saying.

I opted for no, but I can see how people would maybe miss it. As for one of my new toys? Facebook is from 2007, hardly new.

I'm sorry for popping off like that. I'm afraid it was the "no one to blame but yourself" line that did it. I'm cooler now and, as I said, I'm sorry for the rant.
I've read your comments before and I know you are not a smart-ass kid and I am sorry if I made out that you were.

But I must tell you. I had no option to
choose with these people and the Facebook guy I had correspondence with admitted as much. (I think his line was, "We do need to do something about that.) I never sign up for anything without reading the rules first.

I'm a sometimes pro actor and I'm constantly being chided now by friends in "the biz" for refusing to utiize these new "networking" tools (the less objectionable My Space included) after the infuriating Facebook experience. But I can live without it.

Anyway, no hard feelings I hope. Once again I'm sorry for the rant.

Oh--- and as I've been around a good many years, I consider 2007 yesterday!

Those sites are strange in a way, funny how we the public have become the camera for "Big Brother".
