Default Question about selling/shipping

It's more of a problem actually. I recently sold almost all of my hd-dvd collection on here. everything is shipped and everyone has received they're stuff perfectly. I have a user who received a box set that was damaged. He did not want insurance as it was offered. I sent air mail with delivery confirmation. The set was perfect when i shipped it out (with tears in my eyes And now he is emailing me asking for a refund. I feel like i should not have to refund this users $ because like i said the discs/package was perfect when i watched/wrapped/shipped them to this user. Just wondering what i should do anyone have any useful information for me or am i screwed into refunding a $35 box-set. I mean look at my feedback i don't make mistakes like this all my stuff is A1 perfect stuff and is it my fault that the post office screwed up the package?

thanks everyone.

I would say risk of title passes from seller to buyer after a rejection of insurance.

Also, with your feedback score, I would give you the benefit of the doubt that it was the post office fault and not yours.

most definitely, offer a refund if he returns the merch. but if no return policy is implied at the time of sale, it should be treated as an as-is sale.

Honestly Brett, I'm going to go out on a limb here, but since you offered insurance and the buyer declined it, it's his fault and not yours that the post office damaged the discs.

It doesn't happen everyday but it does happen. And I know most everyone here offers free shipping or very cheap shipping fees so nobody makes anything off of shipping. And your feedback speaks very well of you.

So ... I wouldn't have offered a refund. I know that sounds harsh but why should you be out the money? It's not your fault ... it's the post office's fault. Or ... maybe the buyer isn't telling the truth.

It's hard to tell. Maybe we all need to look at this angle and think about including insurance fees to protect ourselves and not let it be optional for the buyer. It will save everyone in the long run and only will add a couple bucks to the total.

Since you haven't heard from him he could have been trying to scam you into a refund w/o shipping the discs back and that way he'd have both and maybe the discs will still play.
I know that's a suspicious answer but that's the way i think.

I've dealt with eBay plenty of times to know that this happens quite often. Next thing you know, you'll have the buyer wanting you to refund them the $ they had to pay to ship it back to you. Pain in the ace.
