Thumbs down NOOOO..The best thread ever made is now closed.

Seriously. ruvics thread was the most helpful thread ever made. WTF. I dont care about the stupid policy. If you dont want to help someone gain revenue with your purchases, go to Amazon and find all the price updates yourself. For the rest of the people that appreciate ruvics and Randells work, let us have the thread to keep up with whats listed for preorder or save us money with amazons garenteeds.

I dont mind helping ruvic and Randell gain revenue..honestly, they deserve it for the valuable links they post.

So please. HDD. Reconsider!!

OK, nevermind.... Just post by JuCo

Beginning immediately, a new policy about link-posting is going into effect at HighDefDigest. Please keep this in mind when you post!

Posting of affiliate links, redirects or links that generate revenue is prohibited. Signatures may include one link to the user's own site.
So what will do, if it's ok. I will keep my thread open with the link to my site in my sig and post text, with no links for updates. Guess you'll have to click on it on my sig

RandellG,

If I were you, I'd remove the HighDefDigest link from your site. I miss Jed already...

I won't do so, simply cause I still support HDD. Maybe not all their decisions but on a whole I do.

What happened to Jed?

It's like they have spit in your face... and not just yours, all of us who were thankful for all the work you and Ruvic did for us. I had no problem using your links and letting you earn some money back for your hard work. I will bookmark your site as well as Ruvic's. Sucks for HDD as that thread was one reason I'd visit this site.

So now I have a question about the links in my sig. They link to my home video collections on another website. Am I now violating this new policy?

I'd like to know as well. Unless they were referring to the acquisition so now Jed's not calling all the shots?

Does Ruvic has a site? He did a lot of great work, and got us all some great deals.

*edit*
Ah, I guess maybe we should wait this out and see what the "new" threads look like. I, for one, saw no harm. If the owners of this site were jealous of the commissions Ruvic and Randell made (between 15% and 4% according to the published terms of Amazon's affiliate program, but I gather the low margins on media meant they were pretty much in the 4% range all the way) ... they should have come up with the idea themselves and done it first.

But since they didn't, they had two more reasonable options, as far as I can see:

1) Leave them alone, since their efforts certainly do bring traffic to the site.

2) Add Ruvic & Randell to staff; pay them a salary and/or split the commissions.

I gather if HDD really felt the threads were hurting their own affiliate sales, than this would be the right way to go. They do the work; HHD hosts their threads, profits shared.

It only seems fair to me that since R & R (got) free access to this site, and basically free hosting of their affiliate links, that they DID owe SOMETHING to HDD. However, they could rightly argue that their high-hit threads added tangible value back to HDD. Enough to be a wash? I wouldn't know, but I guess negotiations are about to (or just did) take place along those lines.
