Default A Question For The HD Digest People

Hi, I have loved this site since I discovered it. I even have concluded a trade here and loved that transaction as well.

My question is more a favor actually... When you have a review can you have a category inside your 'box' that says if we should do an actual upgrade over say a special edition dvd release?

I of course understand that a Blu-Ray disc should look better than it's dvd counterpart, but still... should you re-buy a title or not. For instance... Men In Black is out now. You guys reviewed it... I understood everything and the added extras to the Blu-Ray edition are not enough to make me upgrade over my 2 disc dvd edition. But is the picture that smokin?

I understand you give a do not buy, or a rent, or do buy type comments but what about a upgrade or not comment as well.

I also want to add that I am upset that titles like the 1st 2 Terminators, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Black Hawk Down Blu-Rays are bare bones yet their are either 2 disc special editions and or director cuts for alot less on dvd.

Arrgh!

Thank You and Peace Out

The only issue I see is that it requires the reviewer to own or have recently seen the DVD. To make a good comparison, they'd have to have them side-by-side.

I'd fear that if the DVD weren't available and some reviews featured "Recommended upgrade" and others didn't, people would miss that the DVD wasn't available for comparison and think that the BD is not an improvement worth paying for.

Aurora's quite correct. To do so would draw comparisons across all titles and sometimes we just can't track down a DVD in time to do a review (particularly with harder to find Criterion and foreign releases). However, when we do have access to a standard DVD edition, we try to note the level of upgrade DVD owners can expect. While it's not presented as a quick, easily recognizable blurb, it's often in the body of the review nonetheless.

Thanks for the suggestion!
