Would it be possible to put a review sub-forum in the Game Consoles Smackdown?
It would help alleviate the mind-numbingly countless Halo 3, Grand Theft Auto 4, Metal Gear Solid 4, Ninja Gaiden II review threads we have seen in the past. It seems like some people will scour the Internet to find reviews that fit their own biased, narrow opinions. Then they will bombard the forum with them until any hope of reasonable conversation has been eliminated. I'm all for healthy, productive debate, but do we really need twenty different threads for the same game? The mods are doing a great job. Thank you.

I think this is one of those ideas that works in theory, but it will likely only be practical if it's got a lot of enforcement from moderators. As it is, people still tend to post everything in Smackdown for the simple reason that "no one goes to the game room" and it's only been with the new wave of moderators that Smackdown has been properly policed to move those threads in a more timely fashion to the game room. But the problem still stands that common perception is everyone only reads the game smackdown forum and few are interested in discussing games outside of that, or are more concerned about the visibility of their threads as viable only in that forum. I'm not sure what could be done to change that perception though.

i don't think it's a bad idea, but i like the idea like what happened w/ Warner in smackdown: a single, dedicated thread on things that are going to be huge. not the 80 MGS4 threads. it would not only eliminate the redundant review threads, but would also clean things up, as honestly, when something big happens (lately it's been in gaming, w/ GTA IV and MGS4), it's all you see!
shoeless- i agree, AND disagree w/ you. anything reported does get handled, and more than just the new mod crew have smackdown in mind, it just so happens that the new mod crew are smackdown members, so they see things before they even get reported sometimes. but posting threads in smackdown (either side) just for visibility (w/ no smackdown whatsoever) do get closed or locked, much to some people's dismay.

I think if we want to keep non-smackdown related stuff out of there, the game room is a good idea but it needs more prominence. The site needs major reorganization anyway, but if it were to stay the way it is now, game room needs to go up next to "General Discussion: Both Formats" above the smackdown boards. More people would read it in that case.
Doing so would really only push down some of the lesser used forums anyway |

Can we get the Game Room put under the "High Def Disc General Discussion" category? It would be a minor change to the entire forum but could provide for great potential.
Basically I don't think it would be any skin off of anyone's back - and it would afford the growing game community here a more functional layout Please??? ![]() |
