I'm extremely disappointed by High Def Digest! I purchase the movie "Next" in US Blu-ray after the site put its review online. On the review it says that the Blu-ray have a French Dolby Digital 5.1 768kbps, but in fact, it's a Dolby Digital 2.0 track!!
Worst of all, the 2.0 French audio track is well discribed on the cover of the Blu-ray so it's unforgiveable! It's not the first time that High Def Digest do the same mistake. If the buyers who live outside of the US can't trust HDD, we are totally screwed! You don't even care about the other audio tracks than the English one. When HDD will finally become an international site? I'm not the only one to refer to your site and still, you continue to think exclusively to the American buyers!

HHD makes mistakes all the time... They have way too many titles and way too many specs to expect them to be 100% correct... Next time check more than one source before making the purchase...
Audio English: PCM 5.1 (48kHz, 24-bit) English: Dolby Digital 5.1 French: Dolby Digital Stereo Spanish: Dolby Digital 5.1

by my assumption, the site gets info from the distributor or press announcement, and it can change without announcement. it could also just be a typographical error. either way, whatever site you purchase from should also have the tech specs you can verify, and if it was in store, then, really, i don't need to finish that sentence.
the responsibility lies in the consumer when deciding if a product is for them and meets their expectations. just my 2 pennies.

"If the buyers who live outside of the US can't trust HDD, we are totally screwed! You don't even care about the other audio tracks than the English one." So you're saying you are fully aware that they only care about audio tracks only in english? Yet you want them to refer to the foreign languages even though you read and know what has already happened before. So knowing that they only "care about english" audio tracks, why even trust it? doesn't make sense to me.

the point is, i knew about the single audio track before i purchased the disc and i went to multiple sites to verify this information. while it is human to err, it's our responsibility as consumers to do our homework. oui? |

Sue everyone who makes a mistake. Soon, you won't have anyone doing reviews... and the world will be a better place!

Hi all -- I definitely understand the frustration. We're aware of the inevitability of typos and errors and are always making strides to prevent them. If you think about it though, you should notice that we've really improved in this regard in 2008.
However, such spec errors really have nothing to do with a prioritization of English tracks over foreign language tracks. We've made the exact same mistakes when it comes to English language tracks, but our domestic readers usually notify us via e-mail or our feedback form as soon as the review goes live. While the errors seem isolated to foreign tracks, keep in mind this is because these are the errors you personally notice based on what you're looking for. As you said, you don't care about the English language tracks so you wouldn't notice whenever we drop the ball on English specs. Thanks for voicing your concerns! We would ask all of our readers to immediately inform us anytime they notice an error of this sort. Just please don't post specific corrections to the message boards -- e-mail our editors and reviewers directly and you'll get things fixed ASAP. Again, our sincere apologies for any inevitable errors and typos that pop up. While mistakes will slip through from time to time (at least until we're replaced with supercomputers), your feedback is appreciated and noted. Thanks as always for posting! |

We all know that Highdedigest listen to the consumers, as soon as we tell them about the mistake they try to fix it ASAP. I have a lot of respect for the reviewers even though I don't agree with them all the time I am 100% sure that they put the same effort when reviewing the English or the foregin track. (IMO)

It's worth pointing out that 'Next' is not a French language movie. It's an English language movie, and the disc does offer French subtitles.

True, the review had a typo which has now been corrected, but I would hardly call it "harmful". I doubt you will find disc reviewers in any publication, whether online or in print, who go out of their way to listen to dub tracks. I certainly don't, and am not going to pretend otherwise.

![]() So I try to do the best for everyone. I understand your work not easy; there's so many reviews. So I don't blame your for the mistakes you've done and the ones you'll do. Actually, It's the first time I have the occasion to speak directly with a member of your team. And I'm glad you hear me and to learn I'm not the only one. Count on me, next time I see an error, I'll report you immediately. And thank you for your concern. P.S. : Sorry if my English sucks but I don't have often occasions to speak another language than French! ![]()

I don't think you have several occasions to watch movies with French dubs (and what would be the interest?) or with the French original track if it's a French movie. Besides, I have the chance to be at ease with the foreign languages. P.S. : Actually, I noticed some errors in my previous post. ![]()
