Anything that is a STEELBOOK from Amazon Germany can be requested!

Go to www.amazon.de and type in steelbook blu. See what you get. I will advise if the title is out of print, or if there are other issues with it.

I'll be charging cost + any fees (credit card currency fees, etc) + a small amount for me.

Normal rules apply - all members of the group buy assume a similar risk - if something comes in with a small ding, there's nothing I can do about that. However, I will use a random number generator to "pick" who gets any damaged copy.

Anything that is majorly damaged - I will try and return to amazon.de. That requires out of pocket postage however, so it may take a while to get processed and have a replacement sent.

Great to see this film from Roland Joffe with a release on bbblu.
Solid performances from both Robert de Niro and Jeremy Irons as Jesuit priests taking the side of a tribe of South American Indians as they face off an invading Portugese army. Watch out for Liam Neeson in an early role too.
The superb score from the master of such - Ennio Morricone should be absolutely sublime in DTS-HD Master:

On the 1st of March 2010, one of the greatest cult horror films of all time gets its UK Hi Def release - Anthony Schaffer's The Wicker Man, directed by Robin Hardy.

Forget the lame remake, this IS the real deal. Edward Woodward plays the pious and somewhat bemused Police Sergeant who investigates a young girl's disappearance on a remote Scottish Island.
All, however, is very much NOT what it seems and soon he finds himself up against a sinister Pagan Cult....
Woodward is superb and supported more than ably by the likes of Christopher Lee, Diane Cilento, Britt Ekland, and Ingrid Pitt.

Filmifriikki hasn't indicated this being in stock so far, instead they've indicated 2-4 weeks delivery time from the beginning, but they shipped mine last Saturday, one day after I placed the order.

These covers are the Finnish version, there's also a Swedish version and perhaps Norwegian and Danish versions. The back cover says that this is the first time this movie is being released as digitally restored version on Blu-ray and DVD.

The movie is encoded in 1080i50 AVC. Audio language is Silent / Russian and subtitles are in Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish and Danish. It's a silent film with music and with textual explanations apparing every now and then, lack of English subs might not be a too big problem if one knows the movie already. I haven't seen the film ever before myself. The disc is region free, but requires a playback environment that works with 50hz / 25 fps content.

Extras: A documentary about the film's history (lots of different versions exist) and the restoration in German + some Russian with subtitles in the same Nordic languages, 42m:20s. Presented in HD, 1080i50 MPEG-2, 1.33:1. Not English friendly. This is found in the pop-up menu only, not mentioned in the back cover at all. The documentary seems very informative regarding the history of the film and on how and why many different versions were made.

It comes with the soundtrack with one of my favorite anime intro songs, Duvet, from british band Boa not to be confused with singer BOA. Since it has character designs from Yoshitoshi Abe, like Haibane Renmei and Last Exile to name a couple, It'll probably be a must buy. I won't list a synopsis however it may be a bit dated in the material but the writing and atmosphere is interesting. Take a look if you haven't seen it and for those in the know since Geneon has a limited presence now in the states it looks like this is going to be the only way to obtain their Catalog releases on Blu-Ray.
