I have been a member of this site for over two years. I have traded here and had this as my homepage since I joined. However, the quality of reviews is getting pathetic.

I am getting more and more disgusted with these reviews. I come here for reviews about the Video, Audio, and Special Features. Let us make our own opinions on the movie. These guys are turning into Critics more than advisers.

The purely negative reviews about the movie itself taint the Video and Audio quality reviews because they fill every gap with some quip about how terrible the movie was.

This is becoming more and more frequent.

Just my opinion.

Don't get me wrong, I do speak & understand English, but I'm not up to date like you guys. And before someone tell me I'm wrong, I like to know & understand better. Makes any sense?

When members attack!!!

The behavior of several (a small number) of members on this site recently has grown to proportions that have me wondering about stricter enforcement of existing rules, or a change to those in place, to address the attacks on a couple of reviewers.

Anyone who has been frequenting the blu-ray forums recently has come across numerous derailed review threads in which a handful of members have continued to post personal issues with a couple of reviewers. Many of these posts seem to not only personally attack the reviewer, but also serve to derail thread after thread talking about a TF2 or GI Joe review in a Star Trek thread for example.

For all I know, our trusted mod team has been addressing the issues behind the scenes (I suspect this to be the case), but if nothing else I thought this thread could serve purpose in letting the reviewers we appreciate know that a majority of the members here appreciate their efforts regardless of our agreement/disagreement with specific opinions, and to make it clear as a community that those members who wish to attack their hard work are not appreciated.

suggestions/comments?

You have probably noticed problems with the site over the last few days. High-Def Digest has experienced intermittent website outages caused by a cyber attack. (I'm not convinced Michael Bay isn't retaliating for our 'Transformers 2' review). Our troubleshooting team has resolved the issue, and the site should now be functioning normally. We appreciate your patience and understanding, and apologize for the inconvenience caused by this attack. Normal posting will resume shortly.

Exploding ads or pop-up ads are something which High-Def Digest does not want on the website. Unfortunately, not wanting them doesn't mean that they don't slip through at times.

To get rid of these ads, we need the help of our forum members and their understanding that it may take a couple of days to get rid of an ad once it is reported, but it is certainly not something wanted on this site by members, or the owners.

My understanding is that the best way to get rid of a pop-up or exploding ad is by sending in the link that you get taken to by clicking on the exploding ad. While this requires you to click the darn thing, it gives HDD the best opportunity to ensure that ad can be blocked in the future.

The best advice came from Attebery...

Quote:

It's unfortunate that some advertisers think that because they have found a way to go beyond the boxes they are given, that they use that to disrupt the forums which everyone here enjoys and we want to ensure that those ads do get removed right away, so member help is vital to getting them removed.

The recently implemented off-site linking rule has been temporarily reversed. The mod team are currently reviewing options on how best to address this issue and expect to clarify any changes within the next few days.

Worth noting is that our review team works diligently to deliver compelling reviews that are in-depth and thorough for our members. While we are an open community that promotes discussion, I want to remind you that attacking reviewers is against the rules. Therefore our existing rules will continue to be enforced.
Thanks!

Hmmm, well I can't get the top of the page ad to come back now, but it was about applying for government grants and went to a website called "timesinsider.com".

I thought it was one of those work from home scams to start with, and the site does seem to bear some resemblance to those sites, using the same "as seen on ... " text with various news station logos, the way comments have been closed due to server overload & the way all the links at the top of the page (actually, -every- link on the page) go to the same sign up form ... alarm bells are ringing ...

Hopefully the ad's gone from here already ...

edit
Oh, there it is again, "Woman gets $12,688 cheque from government", I guess it could be legit, I've got my doubts though.
