Hello all. You all won't believe this story. I have to actually credit Gizmodvd for referring me to craigslist. As he mentioned that you can search for hot deals on the site at any given time. Now, this particular sellar is located two blocks from the beach and I gave him an email this past Monday. He responed to my email on Tuesday, and I just closed the deal this morning around 10:30a.m. What amazed me was that he's only played the darn player about 15 times. You can tell he took great care of it. I mean the thing is in great condition and all is a go on my end as far as working in fine condition. Guess what the price was people? You won't believe it: $50.00. Yes, I gave him cash and it was so conveinent to meet him at his place of work for the exchange. The guy was really, really, really professional and stated if there was any problems, then bring it back. He even knew the ups and downs about the player. It's been sitting for such a bit of time, he hadn't even updated the firmware on it. I'll take care of the really quick. Boy, I've looked at other cities across the country for some of these players and in my personal opinion California is a mecca for gadgets and toys. It truelly is an advantage to the people that live here because Silicon Valley is just a five hour drive away and down here Los Angeles there are people that have treasures that just sit up with no use and you would never know it. Anyway, here are the pictures of my fine conditioned A-1 Toshiba HD-DVD Player. Can you believe that the guys is PS3 guy and that him and his wife just had it sitting up for about two years with no use. Peace.....

Now, I don't remember anymore.

Does the Toshiba HD-A1 and HD-A2 decodes Dolby True HD internally, or send the Dolby True HD encoded soundtracks through their HDMI outputs?

So, if you have a receiver with Dolby True HD decoder, will it show "DolbyTHD" in its front panel display?
Or is it converted to multichannel LPCM?

Sorry, it's just been too long for me now to remember. :o
Just not using them anymore, well for a long time now; too busy watching Blu-rays. bbblu

Thanks,

I'm more a Hi-Fi fan than home theatre fan, so I just thought I'd let those know who aren't aware, that the XA2/XE1 is not only a fine HD DVD/DVD player, but if you enjoy quality music, a first class CD player as well.
When the 2 channel stereo analogue outs (not 5.1) are connected from the XA2 to your amp, the XA2 is than using the on board Wolfson WM8740 hi performance stereo DAC for audio processing, which is the DAC of choice for many a high quality & expensive CD player such as Cambridge Audio and Rotel. What this means is, you will get superb stereo reproduction and outstanding quality CD sound.

So if your thinking about ditching your XA2, just remember, it would cost a small fortune to replace this unit with just a CD player of similar spec.
Cheers

Onkyo HD805. What should a Brand New one sell for?

I did a search on Ebay and Amazon, and I can't even find these players being sold as used or refurbished, nonetheless brand new.

I was thinking about selling my brand new, factory sealed (NOT REFURBISHED) Onkyo HD-805, but really don't know what to ask since I can't find anybody else selling one for price comparison. I might just keep it if it doesn't sound like they're going for much. But I already have the Xbox HD-DVD drive, and an HD drive in my desktop, so if the Onkyo will fetch a decent price I think I'll go ahead and sell it.

Any help would be appreciated.

With all the talk of making an A30 into an A35 with a FW update, I want to make my A3 be able to bitstream the codecs :)) so that my receiver can do the heavy work of decoding. I don't see why that couldn't be done.
