Yep, you certainly should be able to.

"Personally, I think some developers are doing that to PS3 games on purpose to show support for MS easier development environment. 3rd party developers can't be THAT stupid to just be close to parity in games versus the over the top visuals the 1st and 2nd party PS3 games are providing (up to 1080/60fps)."

Which would require me to spend money on it, which I don't need to do if others are already DL'ing stuff anyway.

No idea. You're talking to a guy who's sound system is a couple of stereo speakers hooked up to the headphone jack of the TV.

I am very curious about the HD quality as well, so I ordered Stargate:The Ark of Truth (never been available in HD for purchase) early this morning (around 5am). It's about 90% complete at 4am (around 1MBps speeds over wireless). It would probably be faster if I was connected by wire. The file is over 6GB.
This particular title has 2 channel AAC audio at around 256kbps @48kHz. The video codec is AVC. It averages around 8Mbps with peaks up to 22Mbps. This title was almost completely free of artifacts, but obviously detail is lacking (when compared to OTA 720p).

Thank you. WellInformed if you are going to watch more HD movies form the PSN, please put up a thread about it, maybe even comparing them to Bluray films, if applicable.

I just watched an exclusive PSN anime called Xam'd:Lost Memories, and I thought it looked amazing. The show was in HD and was about 30 minutes in length. The detail and colors were beautiful, and though I think it's expensive at $4 per episode, I was rather pleased with it. Hopefully they sell a BD of this series later, as it's definitely something I'd buy. Check it out if you haven't already.

Oh thought I'd add my thoughts about the movie service:

- I like the fact it's in cash and not in points.
- They really need a preview for downloads.
- They could/should extend the length of things like anime shows, as most of them on XBL are purchasable for the same price Sony is charging for rental.
- Seemed pretty slow, took about 30 min. to download a 30 min. HD movie (750MB).

when we're talking HD, are they at 720p or 1080p?

I rented Lion for Lambs in HD. It is 720p.

Overall, looks ok. XBL quality, not as good as Blu-ray. Bit-rate hovers around 8-10 it seems on average. Overall, works alright.

In a bit of irony about this being my first PSN movie download...one of the first shots in the film is of one of the characters watching the news on TV. When they show the shot of the television...on top of the TV, you can clearly see a Xbox 360 and a Nintendo Wii.

I love the service, convenient but too few movies. Paramount's entire catalog of like three movies is buy SD only, hopefully they will open that up to rentals soon. I like the branded pages. I would like to see Sony develop a monthly subscription service, I doubt unlimited buy maybe three movies for a discounted rate, etc.

Also I just purchased an episode of American Dad, and noticed there is no way (AFAIK?) to re-download it. I was planning on buying lots of shows, but don't want to store everything on my HDD. I like being able to delete content and downloading it again later.

Hi guys! I've been having a problem with the online gaming with my ps3. I was playing PURE last week when the console just shut down, and when i turned it back on, the internet will not download latest software updates. i have fifa 08 and 09, and when i try to play these games online, the console simply will not load the game.
i have also noticed, that if i have a game still in the console from a previous night, it wont load automatically anymore as it used to 2 weeks ago! Instead now i have to eject the game when the screen loads, and retry every time!
